Hi there, I must admit I'm a bit of practice messing around with ram timings, but I'm having some real issues here. A while back, a got 2 sticks of ocz pc2 6400:

This worked great, after a bit of messing in the bios to get the correct timings. Today I've just installed xp 64 and 2 more sticks. Things went bad fast, corruption all over the shop, so I fired up mem-test. Sure enough tonnes of errors. So I take out the 2 new sticks, it works fine. Now I *switch* both sticks for my new ones, and they both work fine.

If I put in 1 more (3GB) loads of errors, and 4GB, loads of errors. I'm assuming somewhere I've made a grave mistake in terms of voltage/speeds.

I'm using an abit ip35 (*not* the pro, nor the 'e' version), could someone please suggest what settings I should try?

Ok, an update. I've tried the settings I found via the OCZ website (4,4,4,15, with 2.10v) and this still produces errors with 4 sticks. If I drop the timings down to the spd values (which are slower than rated, 5,5,5,15) it does pass with no errors.. do I have to loosen the timings like this with 4 sticks?

Raise your northbridge (MCH) voltage by 0.1v.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Just want to confirm a few things as I really can't afford to have any expensive mistakes :P

My current MCH voltage is 1.250V, so I'd want 1.350 - but my bios only offers me 1.330 or 1.370. I'm assuming 1.370v will be fine? Also, does this mean I can run the sticks at their rated times instead of the conservative SPD settings?

Thanks

Anything up to 1.5/1.6v on your northbridge should be fine. Try 1.370. With 4 sticks you're putting a lot more stress on your memory controller, especially if you're overclocking.

Have you updated the mobo bios at all. Might be a compatibilty issue that might be fixed with a newer bios.

Apologies if you've done this already.

Ok, I've tried 1.370, I still get errors using the tighter timings. I went up a few more notches (still way under 1.5/1.6) and I still got a similar amount of errors. I haven't updated my bios, but I haven't seen anything in the release notes to indicate any fixes for my type of problem :(

Hi there, I certainly don't want to hijack your thread but I'm having a similar situation. I've taken delivery of 2 sticks of 1gb OCZ PC6400 SLi Ready (4-4-4-15) today and unless I turn off the EPP on my mobo it will not boot. With it turned off the PC boots but the timings have been changed to 5-5-5-15 (according to CPUZ).

Can anyone enlighten me about this. I'm running an Asus P5N32-E SLI.
