What to do - Insurance Claim...

Mum was involved in a rear-ending three weeks ago. She was the front car (was one in between her and the car that rear-ended them).

Mum's insurance policy said that her insurers needed to be notified, but all the claiming etc is being done off the insurance of the rear-ender.

Their insurance company, SwiftCover, phoned Mum saying that they're accepting liability for it, and that we needn't involve our insurance company (to avoid paying the excess & then claiming it back.) They also told us they didn't have an approved repair garage in the area and that we should take the car to a garage and have them fax swiftcover an estimate which they would then approve. <This phone call from SwiftCover to Mum is on the day of the accident.>

This estimate was done the day after the accident and faxed through.

We phoned swiftcover two weeks ago and they confirmed that they'd received the estimate and said they would have it looked at, and a few days later the garage (local independent) phoned us asking if we'd heard a "yes" yet from SwiftCover, as he hadn't heard anything either.

Out of interest, Mum phoned the 'car in the middle' today who said that their's was written off and should be getting the money through for it on Friday.

Ringing SwiftCover today, is still hasn't been approved, and (after 20mins getting through) the guy talked to the approval's department and is going to try and get it looked at....

Is it just me, or is it taking a long time for the damage to be fixed, remembering it wasn't even her fault in the first place!
IMHO, SwiftCover are dragging it out as they aren't having to give Mum a hire car (her car is only scratched/dented, so is still safe to drive).

Any ideas on speeding up the process?

speed it up :)

contact help hire and arrange a courtesy car through them

swift cover will soon shift their backsides when they realise its costing them an extra 100 quid plus every day they drag their heels

Yep, I've used Helphire.
Very good service :)

Tell Swiftcover that you are going to get a 3rd party claim team involved and I bet they'l speed up!

Maybe you could

tell them you would like a cover car because you feel the car is not structurally safe if someelse were to rear end the car again before it is fixed. And word it that you would get in touch with your insurer which they want to avoid due to extra costs.

helphire are fast, soon as the 3rd party has admitted liability you get a hire car asap, never used thier approved reapairers they're shoddy as ****
