I'm off to New York next Wednesday for some sight seeing and of course a little bit of shopping. Its my first trip to NYC and the USA too, and as its only for 5 days I want to fit as much as i can in with only 1 designated day for shopping.

What I would love to know, if anyone can help is where I am best shopping for clothes made by people like Quiksilver, Drunk'n Munkey, Animal etc. I'm looking more for things like 3 quarter lengths, tshirts, trainers, coats etc as I know they are much cheaper over there.

I'm staying in downtown manhattan so if anyone can point out the name of any shops or anything, other than the obvious of Macys and Century21 that would be fantastic, thanks :)

You might be hard pressed to get shorts and "summer" clothes during winter, but you might get lucky. My friend just got back from there on monday said it was expensive for food but he likes good food.

Yeah, I know i'll be kinda lucky but either way, can't pass up the opportunity to get some nice clothes for cheap

My adivce would probably be hit the department stores and if you are lucky you might get the sales(end of winter/begining of spring), but i could be wrong.

I'm off to NYC next month for 5 nights too, plan on leaving a bit of space in the suitcase for goodies :)

That said, I'm not expecting miracles. Unless you really go overboard on designer labels I don't think the savings are that huge. I mean, say you buy a pair of Levis for $35, you're only saving what, £20?

Hey OP,

There is a Quicksilver shop in Times Square which is pretty decent and was last christmas pretty damn cheap. There are also retailers on Broadway and Madison Ave that stock Quicksilver and Animal items.

To be honest from my experiences of lower town manhatten you'd be best heading up to midtown east for shopping.
