Does the PS3 have achievements like the 360?

No it is not LOL are you thick?

My dad might be interested to know you are posting his gamertag though, the level you have snooped too is unbelievable, I am a 14 year old kid and your now attacking my dad? I will have to inform him about this, he knows your work contact details so I expect he will be in touch, so sad you have done this Mark. My dad knows all about your attacks and the emails you sent to his address when you got me suspended the last time.

My name is Liam by the way, maybe you will hear more about this as I feel very threatened maybe a police matter.

what a massive douche
hope i wasnt like this when i was 14

the guy with the top k2d ratio on cod 4 on xbox live has a gamerscore of about 6000
[which is well below average]
just goes to show that a gamerscore is no indication of how good a person is at games

especially when some achievements even revolve around FAILING objectives!

Achievements are just timesinks, there's no skill about getting the majority of them it all just comes down to how much time and effort you are able/willing to invest in getting them.

Agree 100% - I don't want to play through crappy games just to get points, its a waste of my time when I could be playing something better and not worrying about points.

Just my 'fangirl' opinion though.

But you don't *need* to play crappy games, do you. It's not like it's a requirement.

Indeed. The feature is still on the 360, I just don't use it much anymore. I still don't understand people who want an exact carbon copy of the achievements system on the ps3 though. Owning both consoles I want unique different features between them, not identical.

rp2000

It's not unique features between them. One of the consoles has something, one of the consoles have nothing. This is why Sony are trying to get that whole Trophy thing out there as part of Home.

No one claimed it is. It's a nice feature for those that want to target completion of titles though.

Very few do, and even then I can't think of one off the top of my head.

i have started prefering my ps3 to my 360
just becasue the exclusive games are better
Which ones? Uncharted... That's about it right now. And that's not a better exclusive than say, Bioshock, PGR or Dead Rising.
and [in most cases] some of the cross platform titles are better

eg - assassins creed and skate look look better and have a smoother framerate on the 360
Freudian slip?

I do enjoy achievements, the sooner the PS3 has them the better in my opinion. I seem to want to play the game more or play them again to find more things.

btw your dads gamertag ends with 27, I presume thats age? Your 14 that equals 13 difference... just sounded a little odd to me.

No but then what is the point of the gamerscore? Surely you are trying to get a higher gamerscore than your friends, and in order to do that you have to play **** games or they get above you.

I am all for achievements that give you something useful in a game like a 'Making of' movie or an extra costume, or a different gun. that kind of thing I like to unlock, but I'm totally not interested in having more 'gamerscore' points than the next man, been there, done that and what a complete waste of my time. I do not want this to come to PS3.

interesting post about MR Men, answers all my questions about him (scottish as well) - 92 played games in 12 months, can see why he supports 360 only now, lmao

Also maybe if its a police matter i can join in about the verbal abuse i got from Mr Men on his last suspension through xbox Live that my underage kids was subjected to. I still have the offending message. :)

No, they don't but once home is released, achievements should be implemented into some games.

Some games already have them, there's just no epeniscore or equivalent to wave around in front of other peoples faces.

I agree with Inoshishi the reward system such that was in Goldeneye 64 and most recently Uncharted where you unlock "bonuses" is best, at least then you are rewarded for your effort in some way.

I guarantee when HOME gets the trophy cabinet, they'll suddenly be the best thing since sliced bread ;)

There are more positives to achievements then negatives.. it gives an added level of structure to games, and does give some incentive to more fully explore games amongst other things..

The reward system is a good idea, but it's not often easy to implement for developers with time constraints etc, where as achievements are now defacto standard for all games..

And it's quite naive to think that achievements are an evil source of e-peen attitudes, just look at people sigs on the forums, and I think you'll find achievement whores are few and far between...

No 27 is a legendary ferrari number. The number carried by Gilles Villeneuve when he died. Alesi carried the number as well. I assume thats why the no27 comes in the gamertag.

He's argued with me about the F1 97 game so i dont think he's 14 as that would make him 7 at the time.

Just use the ignore feature.

In home being able to walk into someone's room and check out their trophies for games mutually owned is something I think PS3 owners will both utilise and enjoy.

I agree I think a lot of PS3 owners will enjoy it, It's just a personal thing with me, I don't want a score next to my name to show how many hours worth of games I have played, I'd prefer to waste (probably even more) hours trying to beat someone's high score in a game :p

I just didn't enjoy getting sucked into it on the 360 and if I'm being honest I'm probably scared of being sucked in again on the PS3.
