Fancy a laugh?, have a read. Some of this stuff is just pure hypocrisy and completely false but hey I wouldn't of expected anything less from these guys...

Subject: Analysis of Radeon HD 3870 X2

On Monday, January 28th, ATI launched the Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics card. This is a dual-RV670 board that ATI is positioning at ~$449-499. Attached is a comparison presentation that outlines the advantages of the GeForce 8800 GPUs over the Radeon HD 3870 X2. There are a couple important things to keep in mind regarding the 3870 X2:

1) Radeon HD 3870 X2 relies on CrossFire driver technology, and thus has the same poor driver support that CrossFire has suffered from including:

- Poor support for next gen DirectX 10 games at launch

- Poor scaling and compatibility on games that are not top benchmarks

2) ATI has not been able to get their Quad drivers for 3870 X2 working and has delayed driver support for QuadFire until March(!). This indicates they are having serious problems with Quad support. GeForce 8800 in SLI remains the undisputed fastest gaming platform on the market.

3) GeForce 8800 GTX prices have been coming down, with overclocked versions readily available for <$449. As you can see from the attached presentation, GeForce 8800 GTX delivers superior DirectX 10 gaming performance than Radeon 3870 X2, and with overclocked 8800 GTX's available for less than Radeon 3870 X2, 8800 GTX continues to deliver the best price/performance. Even the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB beats Radeon HD 3870 X2 in a number of games and at ~$299 delivers outstanding price/performance.

Enjoy. <<3870 X2 Launch Analysis.Jan08.pdf>>

How utterly transparent :p

Apologies if this has already been posted.

Weird I'm sure I've seen ATi Radeon 3870XT crossfire be up there with Geforce 8800 in SLi

BS in that quote :p

lol, what's amusing is the source of this. If ATI were desperate enough I'm sure they could come up with a few cracks about how nvidia have been running the same board for two years and are scheduled to be two months behind with the release of their dual GPU card...

Anyway, that's a biase source, and an unbiase source without an agenda such as tomshardware states it's the fastest 3d card around.

actually, having reviewed his post I can see he's joking.

I know he's joking but it wouldnt surprise me if he wasn't. He was the biggest turncoat on the forum :D. Completely pro NVIDIA now. He used to be one of the biggest ATi fanboys on here :p

Nvidia whining about quad drivers after their laughable gimmick that was quad sli, the irony.

:D

Triple GTX SLI works perfectly fine, and shows massive gains in some games. Fact is, quad xfire ain't working yet and may never work to its full potential as pointed out by Nvidia, whether Xfire scales as well as SLI is another mater, Nvidia could be right on the fact it don't scale well, some reviews are shocking with XFIRE scaling, they got it sorted for 06 though.:o All IMO, so don't get all frisky.

The fact is XFIRE is the superior solution, NVIDIA's comments about driver support is bloody hilarious.

Newsflash

SLI relies heavily on driver support and works in a VERY similar way. Xfire is a lot more efficient and scales a lot better than SLI, fact.

Removal of the bias remarks and bad choice of language, unfortunately for fanboys, some of the stuff is right. There isnt any fully working dual X2 setups yet as there are no drivers, and an 8800 GT/GTS/or GTX SLI setup will beat the X2....

Anandtech seem to disagree with the NVIDIA statements shock horror;

Again, we didn't have any compatibility or driver problems, and CrossFire was completely transparent. Not only are there no physical settings to worry about (like the 7950 GX2), but there were no driver settings to mess with either (unlike the NVIDIA solution). We didn't have to fiddle with anything, and it just worked.

:D

Meh... if I worked for Nvidia I'm sure i'd be trying to put down ATi. Just as if I worked for ATi i'd try to put down Nvidia.... BS or not. Just one of those things. As a consumer you just have to try and see past the BS to see the pro's and con's of each. :) People shouldn't try and get so defensive, etc.

Yep just part of business, just makes for humorous reading to those who are actually in the know.

Just funny the lengths that NVIDIA goes to sometimes to put down ATi, do they really threaten them that much?

Very true, does make good reading. :)

Perhaps ATi touched a nerve? :D

It might be damage control until 9800 gx2 is out
