I have to agree, get over it. Immersion has much more to do with atmosphere, music, art direction and storyline than it does with viewpoint. You're cutting yourself off from some of the most engrossing games there are - the witcher, the kotor series, gears of war. While I dislike the lack of a first person viewpoint, even when one exists I'll often only use it to admire the scenery before continuing in third person.
Oblivion could be played completely first person, it didn't make it feel any less plastic.
