Hi

Yesterday I bought a citizen ecodrive nighthawk watch. Ive had it on since 1pm yesterday and
the second hand is still ticking at 2 second intervals, which is (according to the book)
a warning that its low and needs to be left in a light place to recharge.

According to the book again, even in low light situations, a full charge will take 22 hours
but its still ticking like its not fully charged.

Just how long do they take to fully charge? Last night the luminous
hands hardly worked at all. This morning they are a fair bit brighter, but not 100%

Im currently sat in a well lit office with windows all around, its like a greenhouse! so no
problems with light.

Im still not sure what some of the dials on the watch mean mind!

Could mine be faulty?

Thanks :)

to be fair though, its been exposed to daylight all day yesterday and going to be all day today too. Surely it shouldnt take this long?

ive had 2 of the ecodrives and both times mine came fully working and ive never had to charge them due to the 2 second warning. a full day on a window ledge with sun light should be fine. does it have all numbers round the outside? if so it will be the "Pilots slide rule"

If its still doing it tomorrow, I'll ring Citizen as surely it should be ok tomorrow.

Im guessing it depends how long the watch has been in the box for, but i would have thought 3 days wearing it, and it should be fine.

yeh sounds like it could be faulty, ive not worn mine for about 6months & its been sat on a shelf on the wall not in direct sunlight and the light bulb in the room only just catches it and its still working fine

Leave it on the windowsill in bright natural daylight for an entire day. If it still doesnt work then something must be wrong. I had that watch for a year or so and it never went into reserves, it was always working full whack.

Artificial light doesn't charge it.

Excellent choice of watch btw, I loved mine.

I'll try that then and see what happens. If its not sorted by saturday, I'll either ring Citizen, or take it to Ernest Jones who a Citizen official dealer.

Artificial light must do it some good as mine hasnt seen daylight for ages only the bedroom light bulb shines on mine and ive not had any problems

Thats not what it says in the instructions...

"converts any source of light (natural and artificial) into useable energy."

It wouldn't make much sense to make a watch that can only utilise uv light.

Mine said it would only charge in daylight.

mines had almost no sun light for well over that and its still ticking :) its only a cheapy one too

Both of my cheapies only did the 2 second tick for a short while.

Although my first one has developed a fault*, and unfortunately it was one of those made shortly before they bought in the 5 year warranty (about 6-12 months too early).

*It doesn't seem to charge properly any more (it's either that or it's sticking at random - probably a result of it being bashed about a bit).
