Injector cleaning - is it worth doing?

Had this done on my astra more as a preventative measure than anything, the engine had done over 50k without the injectors being treated, so decided it was something that needed doing.

Just read that link, seems spot on really. It doesn't look like he replaces the O rings though, so thats something you might need to look at if yours seem worn.
Injector cleaning is even more important on turbo motors, as one clyinder running lean will cause happy happy piston melting at high boost :D

so whats the difference between sending them to that bloke and pouring some redex advanced in your tank every month or so?

Those Redex petrol additives are useless - tried a few bottles in my old car over a few thousands miles and made bugger all difference.

Might give the proper cleaning a go with the hope of improved mpg / better running since my car's done 115k and feels a bit rougher and a little less thrusty than when I first got it (though it could be due to other things).

Anyone else with experience of this before I take the plunge?

Proferssional injector cleaning works wonders in HGV's - usually after huge mileages mind you!

The difference can be as good a new injectors, in some trucks, no difference at all.

That said, I had the injectors replaced in both of my previous BMW's however - a 318i and 728i - and could honestly not feel any difference.

Yes, it is worth it.

Gets off crap it is otherwise almost impossible to get.

I've also just ran a bottle of Forte through my R19 16V tank in order to try and pass emissions. Going for a rag this afternoon after new HT electrical system.

I stuck a bottle of 500ml redex cleaner in my CLK, brimmed it up with super unleaded. After a couple of weeks I noticed that my mpg for my standard journey to work started to increase from around 24mpg to 28mpg. Same journey, same driving style.

my girlfriends vectra had a slight misfire at low rev`s when coming back on the throttle
i ran a bottle of redex though the car over 2 tank fulls and it sorted the problem, cars running fine now

Redex works well with a carb (if you put the dose in the fuel filter than crank in bursts until the car starts).

I'm sure it has some effect on injectors, but ultrasonic will be a lot better.
