LMAO. Too true Gerard. From ATI are the best to this and last time he would have said the exact same against Nvidia users. It's pathetic and sad. For a 30 year old he's got a LOT of growing up to do. With his attitude and arrogance as he seems like a 12 year old most of the time which puzzles me immensely
. Oh and research Raven as you seem to be getting out of your depth with your facts.This is another turncoat. If you go to his profile and search through the posts he's made you will see him arguing that his 3.6Ghz Quad was good enough and Yorksfield was pointless (and this was loads of times to the point people were getting annoyed at him). Please try and deny it Easy. No point in defending your purchase then tell everyone they need to buy it when you decide you are getting one. Please have some respect for others as it was not too long ago that you would never move over to Yorkfield and guess what?. You're moving over to Yorkfield.
Yorkfield IS the better buy but they are not released yet. So in about 4-6 weeks time they will be out and that's quite long to wait and then you have to see how many are going to be about and maybe wait for prices to drop and such. I'd buy a Q6600 for that period of time if it were me as sod waiting all that time when you can get use out of the CPU, sell it on and then put a little bit of extra money towards the new quad. You of ALL people should know that easy. Didn't you try and name it the easy shuffle?. I say try as it's nothing new and everyone does it anyway if they like to buy new stuff or wait!, are you the ONLY person that buys brand new equipment?.
LOL, I expect them to be better anyway ... they cost £215 quid. Cant complain, bought mine day of release (august last year) and set it up straight away to 3.4Ghz. Best buy ever!!! I can probably set it up higher but cant be bothered! 
I have to agree with easyrider here. I ran Cinebench with the Q9550 with the 8 multi of the Q9450 (because there was no bios supporting the half multi at the time) againt a Q6600 at the same speed, at easyriders request:

The results speak for themselves here. Once more apps make use the extra instruction set (like the X264 bench shows) then Yorkfield will make its worth. But, video editing is where the biggest performance gains are to be had and is the basis of easyriders upgrade because it make sense for him.
Yorkfield wont be for everyone for sure, but its step forward none the less.

Easy how can the truth be an attack????? and if it has to be proven then all one needs to do is look through your post history. Are you going to deny that you were defending your Q6600 not that long ago?. I'm just saying that it's funny that NOW you are shouting from the top of rooftops about how good the Yorkfield is when not long ago you were adamant that you wouldn't give up your 3.6Ghz quad (at the time) for the 45nm quad as you seen no point what so ever.
Why do I need to research as I have Weescot and other posters to see how they are doing and how much better they are and it's the EXACT same place that you are finding your information so cut the sarcasm. The same way you learned me old son

.Well read the above. If anyone were to go through both our post history it would be clear to see that I give out advice to the best of my knowledge to help people. You on the other hand tell people to buy what you have or agree with. The X2 3870 is the first time I've seen you talk warmly about ATI after the move over to Nvidia for you.
Also I'm not the only one to have seen your attitude change dramatically when going from one manufacturer to the other. From ATI is the king and all you Nvidia users can kiss my feet to the EXACT opposite. At the time with ATI all you done was recommend ATI and when with the swap to Nvidia it started all over again but this time with Nvidia.
I do my research and give advice on the best card out and not my own preference as I want to help people. Not manipulate them.
@ WeeScot - I never said they weren't good at all. All I mentioned that getting a Q6600 to last 6 or more weeks isn't a bad thing as it can be sold and then the OP can upgrade for the better CPU once it's out and the brand new premium shakes off. Just seems you didn't read all my above post. I'm just pointing out that Easy was defending his Q6600 not too long ago and now he talks like he's knew from the start that they are much better and all it takes is a little flick through his previous posts to see that. I wouldn't have said anything if it wasn't a fact.

Am I not allowed to change my mind? After reading up on it and Adobe releasing hard evidence about writing SS4 instructions into their Production suites.This makes 45nm quads even more exciting.
3.6ghz Q6600 is a nice place to be and yes upgrading to Q9450 for just clock value is pointless.This becomes less so when the new instruction set is implemented.
I had already asked weescott to run the comparison bench at 3.6ghz against my 3.6ghz Q6600 ages ago..So whats your point?

All that I was meaning that it's not a terrible thing to do (get a Q6600) Especially when it could be 4-6 weeks to wait and then you have the premium price that some might not want to pay so that would mean more waiting. He could still have a great quad core to do him until the time is near and then sell and upgrade nearer the time so he can enjoy the quad goodness from both 65nm and 45nm. That's all I was getting at.
My point was that you were telling me to research and that's why I asked you to cut the sarcasm as you were acting like I was clueless about the new quads when I know full what they are capable off because of good people like WeeScott who is pushing the boundaries and showing us through various benchmarks and programs about the benefits of this new quad.
I'm not arguing with you though. You have changed your mind but it's not good to see you put your point across in such a blunt fashion when the Q6600 can still be had. Sold on and then moved over to the new quads and this was not included in your first post. 4-6 weeks and maybe longer is a lot of time to wait.

.Thinking about getting the Q9450 myself. I'll never utilize the cores as I hardly stress the dual but you seem to be having all the fun and I wanna play too lol
. Air cooling will restrict me a lot but I'll hopefully be able to hit a decent clock.What were your air cooling results with the 45nm Quads?. I can remember the stock Q9650 cooler being used by you but I can't remember the numbers.
