Hi Just bought this mount http://www.ergotron.com/Products/De.../Product/PRDID/12/Language/en-GB/Default.aspx

Mounted it to the wall with wall plugs but a few of the holes were a little to big for the wall plugs. any way after moving the screen round a little I heard a cracking noise and with a little more force it fell off the wall.

Any way what is the best way to mount this to my plasterboard wall ?? Which dies have brick ehind as well.

Would it be best if I screwed a peice of Timber on to the wall and then attach the mout to the timber rarther than the wall ??

As you can see I am not the best DIY person

If there is definitely brick your fine, other wise I would not secure a monitor to the wall.

Make sure you drill into the brick and get the right size wall plugs for the drill bit size you’re using.

Push the wall plug into the hole and with the screw push the wall plug into the hole as far as it can go, there should be about one inch of the screw still pocking out the hole.

If not, get longer/shorter screws.

Use brown wall plugs, 7mm drill bit and size 10 to 14 screws.

get some heavy duty plasterboard toggles.
if theres enough of a gap between the plasterboard and the wall it woudl be ok to use these,or a spring toggle works well,we use those for fireplaces so they will be ample for a monitor, just make the hole big enough for the closed spring toggle to get through and when it springs open on the otherside itll hold great

guy knows his stuff,if its the kind of wall im thinking on youll need about 70mm #10's screws,12mm plasterboard,30-40 gap between the board and the wall,20-30 mm of a catch in the wall itself,if theres isnt a gap between the board and the wall shorten to 50mm #10's ans when your screwing them in put the drill/driver on the lowest speed setting so you dont wreck the plugs

thanks for advice guys. I found these in my tool box so you think they should do the job ? http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0190477

they are not the best, i am kitchen fitter and allways use the toggle type when fixing units to a plasterboard wall. they spread out behind the board to spread the load. never had one fall off yet.
but if your plaster board is stuck to wall rather than on battons then the long screw and wallplug is better.
then again i always like a long screw.

We usually use metal, self-drilling plasterboard fixings. If they'll hold a radiator then they'll hold a monitor.
