Some people live in america / other countries.
It's available to download legally.
no one has mentioned anything about illegal downloads or where it may or may not be available.

I know they haven't.
I was just interested as to how anybody in the UK has legally seen this as it hasn't started being shown here yet.
I doubt very much it can be legally downloaded here in the UK as it hasn't been shown here.
Vigrin will have paid a lot of money to get the rights to show it - so any legal downloading would seriusly take away from their potential viewers.

As I said, I'm more than happy to be proved wrong - if somebody wants to post a link to where it can be legaly downloaded from?

If its legal to record TV shows, then why is it "illegal" to download recorded tv shows?

EDIT: That wasn't a dig or anything, genuine question.

“then why is it "illegal" to download recorded tv shows?”
Its so odd you can record a TV show to a hardisk and watch it later in a skyplus box ok. But if the harddisk is in the PC intread its now
illegal. Even if its the same harddisk.

I think the main reason for it being illiegal to downlaod is because the studios dont make any money off the show where as when you watch/record it off tv,sky ect you are paying for a tv licence, sky account ect.
Also on most channels you get adverts which give the broadcast companys revinue.

afaik the writers strike is over so another 5 episodes should be plenty of time for them to get up and running again
edit: or at least it looks like it will be over before next week

Please correct me if i'm wrong but I thought the series started on Virgin I think late Feb? Can someone confirm when the series starts in the UK if not already.

When is this legally available to view? I just did a search on the sky tv listings so I could add it to my sky+, but it isn't coming up within the next week. I'm not exactly a huge Terminator fan, but I'd like to see Summer Glau not playing a mental patient.
EDIT: Looks like it starts on the 21st of this month, so no chance this is legally available to view in the UK.

The issue is basically as follows.

Here in the UK Virgin will have paid a lot of money for this show.
They have exclusive rights to show it in the UK (certainly for the first time around).
Virgin will now try various ways of getting some of the money they have paid for this show back.
The biggest source of income for them will be via advertising.
Sure a lot of people will record the show for personal use and not watch the adverts.
However the vast majority of people will watch the show "live" and will see the adverts.
Maybe only 1% of viewers will see an advert and react to it - that is all they need to make money.

By illegally downloading the show you will not be downloading the adverts.
There is 0% chance of you acting on the adverts because they are not there.

The end result is actually far more reaching than most people understand or want to understand.
However companies will eventually not bother advertising during shows because nobody is seeing the adverts.
This means TV channels will stop buying shows as they cannot make the money back via advertising.
A TV show can only be successful if somebody shows it - so if nobody is buying it then the show will get cancelled.
I know that sounds all very extreme, however when the US started downloading the first series of Battlestar Galactica there was a point where it seemed unlikely we would see a second series.
Not because people didn't like it - but because of the above situation.

Once a show has been aired in the UK once, then it is usually classed as a "free for all".
Sure in an ideal world the tv channel would want people to watch the adverts with every repeat of the show as this is how they get advertisers coming back and spending more money and then the TV channel can afford to keep on buying new shows.

The illegal downloaders of the show of course generally don't see the whole picture and will be at the front of the queue when/if a show is cancelled.

As for this thread being allowed to stay - that is I'm afraid just another example of OcUK's "policy is only policy when we say so".
Although it has been made very clear in the past that this is a UK based site, so we can only discuss music, films & television that have been legally released in the UK, OcUK will just turn a blind eye when it suits them.We don't turn a blind eye, but we can't be on here 24/7. If you know the rules are being broken, why not use the RTM button (red/white triangle to the left). Big Kev

“By illegally downloading the show you will not be downloading the adverts.

But on TV I just press the fast forward button to skip adverts. There is 0% chance I will watch or act on any.

What about stuff like Doctor Who that doesnt have adverts. Its paied for by TV Tax. Yet for some reason its still wrong to download it even if you pay tax? Why no diffrance between watching it on TV or the computer. I pay the same tax either way.
