Hi all,

I have recently decided turn my bedroom in a Home Cinema Room and put my bedroom in the old PC Room. I drew some plans up last year and never actually thought it would happen however, over the last few weeks everything has come together its nearly finished!

I don't have any designs for to show however the room will be hopefully finished tomorrow (9th Feb) and pictures of the finished product will be posted.

I have had the walls skimmed, and I have painted the walls, a nice red colour which really hits the room off well, and will hopefully blend with the desk etc. I have designed a custom black MDF desk, canopy (kind of thing) and shelves. The desk is 7.6ft long from wall to wall; the canopy is also 7.6ft which will be fitted into the ceiling which will hold a 72" Electric screen. The shelves are purely to hold the projector, and consoles etc.

For my entertainment side, I have decided to go with a InFocus X6 projector, as I'm on a tight budget being 15, I find this projector excellent for what its needed for, 2000:1 contrast (I think) and is a great size. The X6 also has all the features I need to be playing games on etc. I have bought a Cambridge Audio A1 Amplifier as I don't need anything massive, and this little beauty does just the job, apart from that I just have the consoles, PS2, Xbox, and PS3.

More updates tomorrow.

Thanks for looking,

hey thats looks pretty cool so far, i admire you :)

That projector is only about £250 isnt it? Does it take HDMI (i doubt it?) but saying that how is it for the PS3 and everything else? i am currently looking at the optoma HD65 which is £4-500 so quite a difference

thanks man

It doesn't HDMI, which for the price I wouldn't expect anyway, and its actually really good on the PS3, however you need an amplifier for to have sound, as the X6 does not have any audio input. In my eyes, I wouldn't want HDMI or need it, because the quality without HD is brilliant anyways.

same idea i had when i was your age, only difference is i havent started/finished mine :( :p

looks good so far, did you pay for the whole thing or was there a third party helping you out :) ?

Thanks for the comment, I'm sure you'll start it one day :p ! I've been working on a local farm which isn't bad pay for my age and I have used some christmas money.

Thanks,

PS, Updates later, as I am about to put the desk in etc.

Updates.

Screen didn't turn up which is ok, however I still put the Canopy up. Looks awesome I think, still more to be done, I'm going to put 2 spot lights in each end of the canopy, aswell as adding the screen.

Looks good mate, so is that 'wall' showing your screen at 72" im guessing you only have 4:3 ?

Looks col though mate, like your lights. How much you spent?

Excellent, Im sure every one in their teens (myself included) has this idea at some point, but to actually go through with it is brilliant, and its giving me great ideas!

Looks good mate.
Wish i had a setup like that when i was 15! lol.

One thing, with your projector wedged up on an angle like that...doesnt it make a mess of the geometry? Or are you using keystone correction ?

Thanks

Damn that looks sweet. I really wish I hadn't just seen this as it gives me some scary ideas about my own home cinema setup...

Hey,

Thanks for the comments :),

Yeh the wall shown is where the 72" will be, and I have other settings aswell but I can't remember them off the top of my head. I think I've spent around £500 so far and I only have a few more bits todo.

Yeh I've had to prop the projector at a funny angle, but it seems to be ok and Im using keystone correction, but tbh it doesn't really need it.

I'm planning on using a Cambridge Audio A1 Amp, with some Wharfedale speakers.

Thanks,

Matt

Matt,

I know 72" is large, but is there any reason you chosen that size? Could your projector produce the same quality at 120" ?
