Hi,

I have a 620W Corsair will this provide enough juice for 2 x 8800GTX?

IP35 Pro
Q6600
3 Hard Drives
DVD ROM

I see no reason why it wouldn't be ok to be honest.

I was running a 8800GT SLI system with a Corsair HX 520W, no issues whatsoever, and a wall meter only showed a peak current draw of 345w IIRC.

Other kit on that setup was an overclocked Q6600, 2 HD's, DVD burner, wc setup, 7 fans and lighting etc.

I'm sure it will be ok, the only thing you will have to do is get some 6 pin adapters as I have the same PSU and you only have 2 x 6 pin connectors. You will need 2 6 pin connectors per GPU.

I can confirm this, assuming they are still built to the exacting standards as was the case a year ago.

I had a P6N diamond with an x6800 (dual) 2x 8800gtx's, 2 150gb raptors, 2 optical drives, an x-fi, and x3 120mm fans...as I recall, the PSU's fan didn't even hit full speed with Oblivion running maxed out:eek:.

I remember that article aswell, the setup they had was even more demanding, they had a QX6700 OC'd to 3.6ghz and a bundle of watercooling gear!

The consensus has always been that the HX620 is very conservatively rated, in reality it could probably match most, if not all 750 watt units out there.

The Corsair 620 actually peaks around 750, and I believe they now ship with all the adaptors needed for sli, crossfire, 8pin pci-e etc..

mmm well it works fine - just makes a lot of noise !

with the GTS I had it sounded like a siren - see youtube here (not my vid - but same noise)

and with the X2 - it chatters like something switching on and off very quick - almost like a fan with the bearings gone

I'm assuming it won't go pop but its annoying

Tagan will RMA it - but would mean buying another PSU in the meanwhile

I have a HX620 powering a pair of GTX's.

Was expecting to have to upgrade the PSU when i put the 2nd GTX in but it runs fine.

Only thing is GTX's have 2 6 pins each and the cables supplied with the HX620are single ended.

Luckily for me i had some double ended cables from other modular PSU's.

Exactly, it will provide plenty of power. People really over estimate how much power is needed for these computers.

Wattage wise the OPs setup would be handled by a 500W pretty easily, the problem is the Ampage on the 12V rails. Corsairs are some of the best so it should be no problem there either but check to make sure.

EDIT:
Running quad, GTX sli, 6 hdd's, 2 dvd, pump + deltas on my HX520 fine. Something is wrong with your psu if it's struggling with an X2.
Well there will be no problem with the rails then :)
