As title, i'm looking to get 4GB of RAM now simply because it's so bloomin cheap at ~£60 and i'm installing Vista soon to dual-boot with XP so I figure I may as well get the most I can while I can.

I've seen several decent looking kits from OCZ, Geil, Gskill etc and they're all the same price... so which ones OC the best in general out of these lot? Not had any experience with 2GB DIMMS so while i'm sure they won't fly as high as my Gskill HZ, i'd like to get the most out of them I can.

List is here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?&groupid=701&catid=8&subid=813&rows=0&sortby=priceAsc

What's your reccommendations? :)

I was not happy with any 4GB Kits even the £370+ Mushkin Kit.

At the time they were all immature, it takes time to get 2GB Modules as good as 1GB, same as it was with 1GB Modules when they arrived to take over from 512MB Modules.

Ive had 3 4GB Kits in all, and now am on 4x1GB.

I already have 2GB of Gskill HZ as stated in the OP, and would prefer to have 2x 2GB over 4x 1GB as I can probably still get around £45 for my Gskill HZ which would go some ay to funding the purchase. :)

So do the 4GB kits overclock any better now than when they first started appearing?
I don't think so, thats's why I paid a little extra for the g.skill pc 8000.

It defaults to 4.4.4.10 when running 795mhz / 1:1 with my cpu (9x395), which are the clocks I run 24/7. It's also nice to know it'll do 500mhz if need be.

I've got 2 x 2gb "Ocz PC2-6400C5 Dual channel vista gold series" arriving monday. Its gonna be run at or near stock speeds, but I'll try a bit overclocking, see how it performs and post back here with the results if anyones interested :)

Hmm those Gskill PC8000 are looking tempting actually... should be able to get half the cost back from my old RAM...

personally can;t knock the Geil Black Dragon set - stuck them in my pc last week and it works well @ 4-4-4-12 @2v. Running [email protected]

Likewise. Cost me £60 and are running 1063 5-5-5-15 @ 2V. Q6600 @ 3400 (425 fsb) Not even bothered finding the max yet!

Was going to get the OCZ reapers, but were out of stock + more money. Doubt i'de have noticed the difference outside of benching.

That GSkill set does look like a good alternative though.
