Hi guys, got a few problems with my PC and could with a hand.

Basically, it seems to have completely died on me. Now, whenever I press the power button nothing powers on, won't even post.

I've checked the fuse in the plug going to my PSU and that's fine, also tried different cables but these don't seem to make any difference. Also tried resetting the cmos but to no avail.

Something I have noticed is that my PSU isn't making any noise whatsoever, before when it worked I'm sure it did make a very quiet high-pitched hum, which leads me to wonder if the PSU has blown?

Need to know if there's anything else I should try doing before sending back to OcUK to be RMA'ed. Also, it's a Corsair 520W Modular PSU.

Cheers in advance.

my antec psu did the same thing with regards the noise it didn't fold completely but the USB stopped working.

I'm RMAing it tomorrow already confirmed they'll send a replacement.

Antec that is not OC
:D

Try jump starting the PSU by unplugging in from the mobo ie the 4/8 pin and 20/24 pin connectors and use a piece of wire to short pins 14 and 15 together. If the PSU starts up then that's not the problem.

I've yet to come across a failed PSU that doesn't smell of burning, try sniffing it. If it smells it's an ex PSU, if it doesn't there is always a chance it may have died with a whimper, but that would be unusual.

Or more simply put: pull PS_ON# low ;)
Layman’s terms: Jumper/connect PS_ON# (GREEN CABLE) ------> ANY Common/Ground (BLACK CABLE) :p
Some PSU's will require a load to be present to operate so connect something up too a molex before jump starting the PSU.

Yep that's what I meant :D but couldn't remember the colour of PS_ON off the top of my head :)
