NO TO GAM£ 39

Football's a global sport now, it's all about the money.

However, I cannot see any reason why playing an extra game overseas would disadvantage me or the team I support.

Because it's a league, how does playing a 39th game make a LEAGUE fair?

I've no objection to the overseas element however I am worried about the extra game destroying the 'fairness' of the league. The whole league system is based on the premise that everyone plays everyone an equal number of times. Once you start including extra games you've lost that equality.

All the clubs play by the same rules, that's how it's fair.

Yes but surely you realise you could have to play a team like Everton/City when United could (potentially) play Derby.

Also the locations will be different, travel will take longer to some, completely unfair.

I don't mind the game overseas, the big problem with the proposal is the extra game. I can't see how the integrity of the league format can be maintained in any system other than the current everyone plays everyone twice.

So if Liverpool were playing Man Utd in their 39th game and need to win to win the league, whilst Everton had to draw against Derby to win the league you would be happy....

You can't seed the games either, because it's a league.

Of course I've used huge amounts of poetic license in that Liverpool ould be nowhere nearwinning the league :p

We'll see if you still think that if you finish top of the Prem 1 point ahead of Man Utd after 38 games and then have to play 3rd place Chelsea... while Man Utd get Watford who finished bottom of the table with 6 points all season ;)

So much will hang on that extra game... titles, CL places, UEFA spots, relegations. Way too much at stake to just have on a lottery at the end of it all.

For what? What will the fans get from it?

If it's seeded, i.e. 1 vs 11, 2 vs 12, 3 vs 13 etc. Then I can't see how it'd will be unfair.

No doubt the PL will give teams a week either side of the match to prepare/recover.

You speak as if you believe these clowns have some common sense? or that they actually care about anything other than money?
