i have had a read of the DVLA Site which stats:

If the vehicle has a maximum authorised mass, which exceeds 3.5 tonnes, but not 7.5 tonnes then a category C1 licence is needed. If the maximum authorised mass exceeds 7.5 tonnes then a category C licence is needed.

now obviously a LWB Transit is 3.5 tonnes, does that mean i need a C1 license, or does that not class as over 3.5 tonnes?? bit confused.

You can drive up to an unladen 3.5t on a normal car license. I asked the traffic policeman next door to explain it to me as I just bought a 3.5t LDV. :)

Out of interest you know about the differant speed limits?

You can only do 70 in a transit on a Motorway.National speed limit on A roads is 60 in a Tranny for dual and 50 for single.

We have had a few caught out at work.

It's not done by the weight of the vehicle, it's done by the weight of the vehicle when carrying its maximum allowable load. the transit will be 3.5ton max, you need Category B to drive it.

Overload it, and you may not have the sufficient licence and won't have valid insurance.
