Have you tried the towel trick?

I replaced the thermal paste on mine again with arctic silver 5 and it still didnt work.

I then put it in 3 towels for 30 minutes and it's been fine ever since.

Just have the xbox all together in one piece like when you bought it, take the HDD off.

Turn it on, you see the 3 red lights?

Put three towels on top of each other on the floor sprawled out and put the xbox in the middle.

Wrap the xbox with these 3 towels and leave it for 30 minutes from cold, 20 minutes from hot.

I still have it all opened up on my bedroom floor with the DVD drive removed! Did you use just a regular hoover to clean the dust off of the heat sink etc? If so i may try this later and if it works i can have 1 360 for my tv and 1 for my monitor :)

Just a regular hoover yup. Its the same one I use to clean out my PC once a month. I just used the hoover to suck out the dust, and the can of air to blast out any dusty bits that were nestled deep within the heatsink.

Spent the morning playing some films alongside Smackdown 07 and CoD4 so it seems well enough to stick the lid back on. I just touched the GPU heatsink whilst it was on and almost burnt my finger off :eek: Doesn't help that MS plonked a hot DVD drive right above it either.

My launch day died ages ago, think I've had 3 in total fail on me since launch. Got 2 at the moment that are fine though.
