My opinions on Vista SP1, 8 months later..

there's no need to check the md5 hash. the files are digitally signed from microsoft..... right click the file>properties>digital signatures tab.

Virtualisation, was my first thought, but getting more than 1gig ram here is like pulling teeth, even for the devs who need it all the time.

To be honest once the VM has loaded its not too bad with 1Gb. It just takes an age to load. It would routinely take nearly 5 mins for a 13Gb VM to load on Vista with 1Gb RAM. With 2Gb that was cut to a couple of mins (VMWare server btw)

On Vista I've found Virtual PC 2007 to be the fastest. I have an XP VM on my Vista laptop (since RSA don't yet have a SecurID client for Vista 64  ) and that loads in 30 secs or so. Mind you my laptop has a t7700 2.4 C2D and 4 GB RAM :)

you have to look on google, for SP1 and find a script file that adds to your reg. Then down load the important updates.

Then you reboot and should find it.
