Holy cr@p! Just had a look at a new gym that has been opened a few miles away from us :eek:
75,000sq feet of gym area and $15million dollars pumped full of the latest equipment. Some of the highlights would be the Cardio theater (a full size cinema room with cardio equipment instead of seats), full size indoor basketball court, swimming pool, running track (suspended on a mezzanine floor), specialized spinning room, cardio wall (climbing), about 100 plasma screens throughout.
Also what's cool is that despite having personal screens on every piece of cardio equipment they also have the USB & iPod hook up so you can both stream music and videos/movies to the TV's (wonder what would happen if you put pr0n on one? :p)

Free weights section was just huge and had more than everything needed.
Largest gym in the state now and is still only $29.99 a month!
I honestly don't know how this place is going to make the money back, it's not even in a hugely populated area and there are already a tonne of gyms about!

Makes my old Virgin Active gym look like a corner shop.

It's a new one called Urban Active (Used to be part of the Golds Gym brand but have since broken away and gone alone)

:( My short time at Cannons was costing £59.40 a month, it had half a dozen tvs and the whole place was a bit of a hole compared to how this sounds. UK sucks sometimes.

They need to do something before the whole country sinks under the weight of it's inhabitants lol :)

Morba trains at a pretty awesome gym here in the uk, the jammy git...

I think an awful lot of companies are jumping on that band wagon over the past 5-10 years!! There are som many about.
For instance this new mega gym is a brand new building. However there are 4 other clubs (same but a little bit smaller) all within a 15mile radius!!
That's not to mention the 50 other individual clubs floating about!

I think the UK would benefit from these types of places if we had the development space for them! How big is the US compared to England? About 40 times as big?

Georgia alone is at least twice as big, Id say the US is 65 or 70 times bigger.

Edit: its 102 times bigger

England = 96,000 sqkm
Amierca = 9.83M sqkm

$30 a month.... Thats what £15/16 a month. I envy you tbh. Here I pay £30 and that is student discounted for pretty much a fitness gym, not many weights but I make do. Other gym located near is about £70 a month.

I just moved to this new gym. Before I was at a 'regular gym' and I was paying 8pounds a month :p ($15p/m)

Even though I know how America is cheaper than the UK on basically everything due to taxes and wage, economy size etc etc. I have no idea why gyms here are through the roof in the cost of membership... the gym im at is a so-called non-profit organisation yet for a full member ship it's like £50 a month. I pay £30 because im a student but you get the point.

£30/mo gets the tatty gyms at boarding schools around here. :/

I'd be happy to spend £15 and get all that stuff.. going to the gym would seem worth it to me then.
