As the title... Building a new system, and just ordered a 512Mb EVGA 8800GTS... Will i be able to plug this in and use/test it on my old ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe motherboard, whilst i scrape the cash to order the rest of my parts...

Any help appreciated... Thx... :D

Have a 480w Tagan in my old system, all i wanna do is make sure its not DOA, and plauy some games with it whilst i save some money for my CPU/Motherboard/RAM purchases... If it works on the A8N-SLi, i'll be happy to play with it for a while... Thx m8... :)

Was gonna start a new thread but this one seemed relevant to my question. I have a gigabyte rev 1.0 P965-DS3, im pretty sure it has PCI-E 1.0. Im looking to purchase a 8800GT or GTS soon, so will it be compatible with my motherboard?

I have used google to find the answer and it does seem some people do have a 8800GT on the same board but im a little nervous about getting a new card and wondering if it will work :(

Does anyone have a 8800GT on a rev 1.0 DS3?

Thanks.
Arron.

I have an Asus commando mobo which is PCI-E 1.0, runs my GT no problem, i guess the 8800gt/gts are completely backwards compatible with all PCI-E spec.;)

Ive done some more research and it seems to be hit and miss. I dont really want to take the chance :(

On the up side im considering an E8200 with a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L and using my Geil PC6400 2GB. Im not sure what sort of clocks I can get with this RAM so gonna check out the overclocking section.

Thanks anyway ;)

Yes, Yes its a 965P, and Yes it runs absolutely fine! OCed to 702/999 and 12110 in 3DMark.

Good score! Im getting 6700 in 3DMark06 so should double my score with an overclocked 8800GT :)

What bios version are you using on the DS3?

Thanks for the reply ;)

i got a gts 512 running on a ds3 1.0, bios f12, runs great, 12980 in 3dmark for what its worth although only ran it once
