Road Rage - Have you ever be provoked into it ?

Reason I ask is I generally avoid all conflicts on the road, waste of time and pathetic IMO, however about 1yr back things got to a point where I became almost as bad as the driver and sought revenge.

My bike was off the road and had borrowed a m8s moped to ride to work, but still wore full leathers / body armor.

Was commuting to work and was cut up by a guy in a rolls royce, livid at my near death experience he got the finger then I pulled into petrol station ahead. Just about to fill up with juice i'm pulled away from bike and slammed against pump, turning around it's some short fat business man that has jumped out of the roller and now offering to 'have me'

He yells 'take that helmet off and I'll have you' slamming me again into the pump.. his wife was in tears pleading him to get back in.

Eventually he obeys his wife and leaves me and drives away....

I was seeing red by this time, I finished at the station and resumed to work.. shaking with shock and anger at what had just happened. A mile up the road the traffic backed up to the usual long queue and there he his. I just had to have some kind of revenge..

Speeding up the outside I accidently stretch my arm out and punched his wing mirror... as I speed away I can hear the sound of shattered glass and picture a fat, balding businessman fuming and going red with rage behind me.

The pain in my arm felt good...

Guess the moral of this story is don't mess with a dude on a moped if you are unsure he has full CE body armor, you cannot win. Am I as guilty of road rage as him ?

disclaimer: the above is of course fictional and all characters mentioned within are made up lol

Yes you are.

Once i was in slow moving motorway traffic 10-15mph and there were some work men doing something to the central reservation. Knowing that they are probably causing the traffic delay. I opened my window and shouted "Work faster!". They made a hand gesture but were too out of shape to chase after me.

They were gone by the time I drove down that stretch again so I guess they took my advice. Even though it was 2 years later.

Good effort with the wing mirror tbh.

But in the petrol station... Why didn't you headbut him?...

Shock can make you freeze... I wouldn't normally condone vandalism but well done on the wing mirror.... would LOVE to know how much a new wing mirror for a roller would cost :D

Seriously, a fat businessman who was assaulting you, when you have the clear advantage of having your head covered in some very hard... whatever they make helmets out of nowadays.

Helmets should be replaced after a hard impact. Wouldn't be worth the expense :p

I say fair play, far too many oblivious morons on the road, even worse when they act as if it's your fault that they nearly hit you. Two years of a 16 mile daily commute on a bicycle taught me not to trust drivers and they will make it your responsibility to avoid them, even when in a cycle lane.

Class A idiot! Who on earth drives a Rolls and goes around starting fights in petrol stations? Especially when his "victim" is wearing bikers leathers and a helmet?!

You did well to not get into a fight with him. Not sure how I would have handled the situation, but the wing mirror was a nice touch!

I do suffer from road rage, in that other peoples actions do occasionally enrage me.

But I've never shown more than a smile and a two fingered salute in return (when a white van man was leaning out of his window doing his nut, quite amusing at the time), and I never let it hang over me all day.

i dont suffer from road rage but was driving through exeter one day with some chav behind me who tried to cut me up, but i failed to move causing him to brake ha dam chav, anyway he then pulled up behind me at the lights got out his car came up to the side of mine and started punching the window  lucky i had seen him coming and locked the door as i started to drive off he kicked the car but left no damage.

swift finger from me helped whist i was driving off

love it, chavs are the worst drivers possibly after white van drivers, they pass their test then just ignore all the rules of the road.

TBH mate, if you did do that you're the tool and a wimp. Getting cut up is part life on the roads, like it or not, so get over it and forget about. If you had of done this in the first place, the petrol station bit wouldn't have happened and then you wouldn't have been a prat by punching the mirror off. If you did feel the need for revenge why not have a go at him in the petrol rather than being wimp.

You wonder why bikers get a bad name.

And i'm not making any excuses for the RR driver but two wrongs don't make a right
