Rival Towns?

A rival to what? Can't be Stoke seen as its one of the 6 towns that makes up the city. :p

What's your part of town?

Yeah, the thread is rival towns. :)

My part is Stoke itself, I've lived no more than 100 yards from the Victoria Ground for all my life. :D

Edinburgh - Glasgow, I suppose. The more intense rivalry is the one between different areas of Edinburgh, which is based mainly on football teams.

For the record: Hibs > Hearts

old firm rivalry>two crap teams in the wrong half of the tables rivalry

Burgess Hill (my town)/ Haywards Heath. Four or so miles apart, both of a similar size.

Most of the people from HH have beef against Burgess Hill and the people here, and really look down their noses at us. They think we're 'common' because the house prices are about 10% lower, but in truth we live in pretty much the same cack town but with cheaper housing.

They have the about same amount of social scum as we do. The only thing going for the place over Burgess Hill is it is near to a couple of very expensive/'exclusive' villages, from which the middle/upper classes try to glean quite a lot of 'pomp' and 'prestige'.

Nobody really cares what they think, so long as they're happy.

Stoke on Trent, an amalgamation of small towns that seem to hate each other!
No Rival town required.

Hinckley/The World basically.
It kicks off with Nuneaton/Coventry/Leicester & anyone else that wants to drop by. I've not had a problem anywhere I've been myself but then my Accent is pretty blatant.

Every Australian state capital vs every other Australian state capital. (Interstate rivalry is pretty big Down Under, regardless of geographical distance).

The biggest one is Sydney vs Melbourne. That's a grudge match generations old.

:)
