1080l problems

hi guys just bought a ps3 my tv supports the 1080l res but when the game loads it changes back to 720p? any ideas what maybe causing this.

720p game. So far movies and the PS menu screens are all I've found that run at 1080. Of course I don't have enough games yet to know if there are true 1080 games out there.

Still, 720p is really sharp looking!

Aint the point of the ps3 is to have the sharp gfx that 1080 brings?

same as the xbox360.

The gfx dont really look that sharp to me in 720

is there any games that support the 1080 mode ?

Yes, i have Virtua tennis 3 and Virtua Fighter 5, and both support 1080p.

I think thats because the graphics are crap on those games, so the ps3 can handle the higher res.

But other games like burnout paradise, probably couldnt handle 1080p on the ps3 hardware, so its only 720p

Thats exactly what i thaught when i baught my 1080p TV and PS3

how sharp it is at 720p is down to your tv. even if the games are full of jaggies, they should remain pin sharp

I get a sort of anti-aliasing effect on my 1080p tv, with 720p games. not pin sharp jaggies.

Edit: is that a good thing?

Well fifa08 looked like it was on a ps2 to me the player names on the shirts were not very readable at all, yet the blue ray films are razor sharp

The 360 gfx seem a lot better to me from first glance. I was expecting a lot more from the ps3

the resolution just depends on the game...granturismo HD supports 1080p so does super stardust HD but if i was to load wwf smackdown vs raw (or whatever its called) that goes to 720p.
i would just like to add i didnt buy the wwf game lol
