The Wales Lan Feb 22-25 2008

As I said, it's fairly doubtful for me. But will likely be a last minute choice.

Waiting on a Hospital appointment and got several quack appointments over next couple of weeks.

Pills I'm on knock me out cold.

So i'm unlikely, but still possible as depending on how I feel and none of my appointments clash I "May" still make it. But it'll be last minute stuff.

For those who can't make it, it's a shame, would have been really nice to meet new faces and those who came before who can't (possibly can't), it's not gonna be the same without you.

But, the show must go on. There's more people arranged time off work, purchased train tickets and made other arrangements to warrant a cancellation.

I can make a public guarantee that for each member not coming I'll have a drink and raise a toast to ya (can I have your burger too).

Besides which, there's always next time!

Well I really hope it doesnt since I've just spent £50 on train tickets and as far as I am aware they are non refundable

Umm train tickets to my house you dunce. Your still welcome here for the weekend if this whole lan thing falls apart. And to be fair we will get a lot more gaming done if we don't have to spend all that time driving too and from Wales ;)

And to be fair as long as we get 5-10 of us it will be a blast (Miss K and I are taking 4)

On a more serious note:
There's a slight possibility I won't be able to make it.
Just been told today there are going to be redundancies at my work place and my name is one of the 20 listed.
Us 20 have to apply for 13 newly made available jobs, the remaining unfortunate 7 will be left jobless. :( (and I'm strapped for cash as it is!)

I'll keep you informed but it's possible I won't find out till after then LAN - just don't know :/
How long you been working there? You entitled to a good payout?

You mean you plan to get drunk... The way I hear it your already at a disadvantage. Why make things even harder for yourself :p

I'll put in a caveat- I have a Microsoft Exam next Tuesday that if I don't pass - depending on when I can retake it - may mean I have to bail, however it's unlikely to become a problem.

More importantly this means that I haven't had a chance to buy or play COD4 or Burnout yet, so I have a legitimate excuse next weekend when I've only had a few hours to learn them.

Pah and Cheets accused me of being a internet groomer, 5 years of groundwork it's taken Krono to get Alrik in the same bed :D

Sorry to hear of your illness Zico, I thought all that was wrong with you was a white nose :(

Guys,

Flying visit just to say i can no longer make the LAN - i've moved out (hence not being online for some time!!! get the net Tomorrow at the new house) and i simply have 0 funds available for the trip!! The Petrol alone will be to much lol!

Sorry guys, but ive spent so much cash the last week or so im around 900 overdrawn... lol - so im working lots and lots of overtime to afford to live until i get things like a Bed and Sofa in my home!

Love and Rape!

McD

I'm now firmly in the camp for trying to put the LAN back to another time, though it really is a shame for those who have booked holidays or bought tickets (though tickets are refundable).

Why? It's not THAT bad a deal. People can't make it, and that's a shame, but people who have made all these plans and then have those plans cancelled is, likewise, a shame too.

Just let it run it's cause, the next LAN there'll be a load of people say they can come and again pull out because of personal priorities. Will people want that one cancelled too?

Just let it run it's cause, no big deal.

I'm not going so it's not my call but imagine of you had spent £50 on a train ticket. It wouldn't encourage future LANs to be a success.

Not unless next time you double or triple the deposit to make sure you only get genuine interest and if cancelled that money can go towards reimbursing train fares and the like.

Redundancy laws are quite **** tbh.
The minimum a company has to offer is:
1 week per year service if you have worked for more than 2 years,
1.5 weeks pay if you are over 40.
Max 13 years
£290 per week
and everything over £30k is taxed

I hope your company do not offer the minimum (most large companies offer much better terms than the minimum requirements)

Oh. And I'm still going even if all of you cry off.

So ~J~ it'll be: you, miss K, Alrik, me and whole load of burgers :D
