Something I noticed in the review:

So would I be correct in thinking that these are being used for spying and stuff like that?

Its says non-military, ie not in the military. I suspect its more as a showcase of what Carl Zeiss can do than an actual product. but super telephoto lenses like this tend to be used for things like surfing, wildlife filming etc.

They had a customer who asked them for something like this & basically was prepared to pay whatever their quoted price was so they built it.
I believe that no one else has asked for 1.

Sorry about that, I didn't know there was a rule for image size? I've seen wider images posted and also larger than 325kb.

Thought some people may laugh at seeing what the beast looked like actual size!

There isn't a rule for image size (Although the unwritten rules says that 800x600 is enough), but when you have to scroll up and down and side to side to see the full image, it just becomes annoying.
