Right, been thrashing this out with the gf for at least 20 mins. This Irish lark isn't half confusing.

She's not 100% sure this is right as she isn't 100% fluent, but she knows enough to swear at me so it will have to do until some Irish jobsworth swings by.

To type/write, it's something like:

Ruth mo chara

Lá Valentine Shona dhuit

grá mór

OSB

How to say it (phonetically) is:

Ruth moh carra

law valentine hunna ditch

graw more

OSB

Irish to me makes no phonetic sense as the words look nothing like the pronounciation, its a constant source of banter between me and her.

By the way, she's thrown in a few points:

"Irish isnt literally translated as well by the way"

"so it actually means Ruth my friend, Happy valentines day to you, big love" (!!!!!)

"depends on where the person is from as well though , theres different kinds of irish depending on where in ireland you're from"

When asked if Ruth should understand it:

"eh obviously! I just told u!"

"they're pretty similar and thats pretty basic stuff so should be understood everywhere"

Thats my effort, im exhausted. Time for a beer methinks.
