i see a lot of TV threads cropping up in this section, And they are usually aimed at the smaller Bedroom style Televisions. Now I'm looking for a nice TV for my front room. 40+ preferably. I don't mind parting with a fair bit of cash, But only if it's worth the extra cash! I want to be able to have my 360 and PS3 plugged in, I'm a massive movie fan, So will want the TV to be able to cope with masses of HD punishment.

I'd want the TV black, And I've also heard certain tv's don't display true black colour? So i'd also prefer true black picture colour (If possible)

I don't need freeview built in, Or any extras, As I'll be getting Sky HD soon.

Only real extra that would probably come in handy, Is surround sound, but that's probably best left alone for a while :p

(I do know there is a section for TVs, But I wanted the opinion of gamers, And people I know I can trust (yes even you Mr.Men :p )

Awesome, I just had a google for it, and that looks pretty nice.

42" is round about what i'm looking for, and Twin HDMI which is a must.

That's a definite contender.

No offence to people here but in general the gamers on OcUK are completely clueless about TVs. Have a look at avforums for some good advice and comparisons.

Where did I reference you with my "in general" statement?

Well you can't make a sweeping statement like you did without having some kind of 'proof' to back it up with. I'm pretty sure the general gaming community here are pretty clued up on their TV setups.

Kreee is right.

Every thread like this ends up with people saying Samsung... because that is what they have got. (I also own a Samsung and it's a good TV but I wouldn't always recomend them straight away)

The OP said he wants a good TV and is willing to part with a fair bit of cash and the samsungs are midrange to budget tv's.

Try buying What HiFi magazine: Sound and Vision. They have round ups of TV's in different price ranges. Also look on AvForums.

From what I've read, the new Panasonics aren't far behind the new Sony Bravia's and the general concensus is that the extra price of the Sony isn't particularly apparent.

They're really not. It's far too small a community with hardly any discussion on TVs and everyone just recommends what they purchased because everyone is happy with their choice. Stop getting overly defensive.

I reccomended mine based on 18months of interest in TVs, seeing many setups and playing on several tvs.

For LCD blacks and general performance I was very impressed with the Samsung. My parents TH37PX70 is also very good if you want a plasma.

My thoughts are backed up by every review I read where these two tvs are rated highly.

i wouldnt choose a plasma for gaming...yet.

Hence why I recommended the LCD tv. The Panny is suited to SD stuff. Although Ive played a lot on the Panny with my Xbox, no issues with burn. If you fall asleep the Xbox will dull the image anyway to avoid burn.
