ps3 sells a million in the uk, faster than the ps2.....and the 360

From what I can remember the PS2 was a flop in the UK until Gran Turismo 3 launched. Same thing with the 360 until Gears. Also you have to view these numbers in respect of the vastly superior PS2 sales versus Xbox1 over their lifetimes. Put that all together and you'd probably still have to say the PS3 isn't doing great yet. It still needs a few more killer exclusives (GT5 Prologue will certainly help) and maybe even another small price drop.

Not that it matters anyway, who seriously wants either console to fail? The last thing any gamer should want is just one format with no competition.

Wish you could set this forum to ignore people. As I'd defo be ignoring Joebob as he just baiting. Its so sad

Strange how everyone voted Mr Men as one of the biggest fanboys on these forums and then if I don't want to enter into a one sided arguement with him then I'm baiting???

I don't get your logic!

You should have just left it when he did the 1-0 routine, you were ahead at that point but then let yourself get dragged down.

He'd like nothing better than to have a pointless argument with you all day long.

what annoys you? Me saying it or the you're annoyed because you agree?

I agree, it was an unnecessary step back, and I never liek to see that in this industry. I'm still miffed as to why sony ignored all the great features from the dreamcast and took the industry back one huge step with the PS2.

Absolutely. They also could have had some sort of online support from day one like the Dreamcast. But having never owned a Dreamcast, what other features were there?

hey, the snes had online gaming in japan too. im thinking its not so much ignoring what the dreamcast had, but rather maybe the world wasnt ready for it at that time. considered a waste or resources perhaps? i mean, it didnt do the dreamcast any good lol they will always be reluctant to do anything untill its done well by somebody else. motion controllers for instance. everybody knows nintendo didnt do it first but did the rest of the industry pay attention until nintendo brought it mainstream? no, they wouldnt touch it lol.

oh god not another 360 vs ps3 thread. Please close/lock/burn this thread - just like every other one.

or you could just stay out of my thread? cheers:) this thread is about how well the ps3 is doing despite the setbacks and predictions from the usual lot. of course you have to compare the sales to something, you might as well compare it to what its competing against.

this isnt a ps3 vs 360 fanboy spectacular, so do me a favour and refrain from posting that trash. thank you again.

Got to give MS credit for trying, hope they have learnt by their mistakes to make a truely awsome next-gen console. Here's hoping!

If the PS3 white washes them this round, which its looking like it may end up, there will not be 'a truely awesome next-gen offering' from Microsoft..

Not if their shareholders have a say in it... Which we all know they do !

Haven't they always said they'll do 3 consoles before re-evaluating their position?

If I was a shareholder I would be advising against it wouldn't you? Instead of thinking what you want think whats probably right.

They had a headstart.
They have had a year of the best games known to a console.
They have paid big money for exclusives.
Halo3
Online play from day one thats awesome.

Yet still they can't beat a playstation brand that launched with practically nothing to offer and a blu-ray gamble.

Then you factor in the returns costs for 3 years. I've sent back 5. How much profit was there on that £279? Factor in 10 UPS trips, 5 repairs.

They will never even get close to re-couping what the developement costs have been for Xbox1 and 2. Not to mention buying exclusives. The life of the 360 has been vastly shortened by backing the wrong camp, not installing a Harddrive in all machines, HDD price and going for an installed dvd player.

From a business point of view it's just throwing more money down the drain.

as you said playstation brand. People would have bought the playstation 3 no matter what its faults were. 360 would not have outsold the PS3 if it had solved world peace. People will walk into a store and think 'Playstation, I've heard of that' I think Microsoft have made a massive leap this generation and they should definitely stick around. If they didn't make another one I know Id definitely go back to PC's. Im not going to stick around in a competition-less console market with Sony screwing over Europe at every opportunity. i can't even imagine how much worse it would be if they had no competition.
