i've read a couple of rumors about new PS3 models being released in the near future, specifically gunmetal and ceramic white colours...

does anyone know what model releases are imminent cuz i'm about to get one but if i know there are gonna be some spangly new ones just round the corner then i'll wait...

i always said i'd get one when MGS4 and GT5 come out so don't need to get one RIGHT now anyways...

so... anyone clued up on all this care to enlighten me? :)

There is no confirmed release outside of JAPAN and USA to my knowledge.

I think White is/was available in Japan, and now some sort of "Silver" is coming out in march, and I think ceramic White is coming to USA, but not heard any facts on them coming to UK (we are always last!!)

white is already out in japan and will be out in america soon, but silver is only out in japan (or at least it will be if it isn't already). No news for europe.
 
well, i've ad a thought about it and i think i want a black one anyways, so as long as theres no mint technical upgrade coming soon, i'll go with the 40 gig :)
 
I'm thinking the same as you but I really want backward compatibility, dualshock and a larger hard drive. So I'm holding off for a few more weeks to see if anything is announced at GDC
 
I can't see them adding backwards compatibility back in, makes no sense from a financial point of view. Hard drive you can just buy a bigger one. Id like to see the dual shock packaged though.
 
oooooo thats a point... aint fussed about the hdd, couldn't care less about the backward compatibility, but dualshock!!! i really would like that... guess i'll have to wait and see :(
 
If it's just the dualshock you want then I'd buy now and import one straight away for less than £25 or deal with the sixaxis for now and buy in the UK shops in a couple of months
 
The only thing i can imagine PS3 hardware wise is the White one coming to the UK in a few months time, dont forget that Japan, Europe and R.O.W are all headed by a different part of SCEE, so just because SCEA announce a new SKU it doesnt mean that we will get it (although we may well do).
On a side note anyone looking to get a PS3 theres a great deal on one of the online stores, 40Gb PS3 with uncharted and ninja gaiden sigma for £299.
its only available to UK addresses and isnt instock till the 22nd Feb (GDC announcement?)

oh so the dualshock capabilites are only a controller thing, not something that needs to be built in to the unit?

if thats the case... gonna get me that ninja gaiden / uncharted deal :)

EDIT: what stuff do you also need to buy these days... whats the best thing to get to plug it into my 26" samsung telly? is it HDMI or component?

if i get another controller and an hdmi connection, am i kitted?

HDMI I'd imagine

Dualshock is just the controller. Everything else is included in the PS3 like wireless and err harddrive.

The ninja gaiden / uncharted deal is out from the 20th I think I read.

Oh and with todays exchange rate it'll cost me £347 ... :(
 
oh hang on, one of the reasons i was buying was because my particular faourite online shop (the one i'd order the console from) states that MGS4 is out near the end of march... but the rainforest place reckons half way through may...

grrrrr... wondering if its worth it to play ninja gaiden and uncharted... knowing me i wouldn't find much else i wanna play as the pickins seem pretty slim and by the time MGS gets released some spangley updated ps3 will be out...

do you lot reckon its worth getting right now based on the current game offerings?
