Eurofighters.

They will be blown up before the ever get off the ground. Like in the attack against Iraq. Their airforce never even bothered.

Saudi Arabia is a whole different kettle of fish to Iraq, they have a military modern equipment, and a large budget. They would be more than capable of launching planes and going toe to toe with our own.
A land invasion would be massively risky due to a trained army which would be told to fight as long as possible then go underground, (along side special forces which would have already done so) and train militia and resistance fighters far more deadly than Iraq's, due to the access to far superior technology.
Also they have M1A1's and M1A2's along side their older T tanks.

Stinger SAM launchers could cause much more trouble than rpg-7's rpg-29's can puncture modern western battle tank armour, and has even breached the front armour of a challenger 2 as well so would make light work of warriors and other light vehicles, when used by insurgents, and guerilla fighters.
 
Fantastic how thye U.N is so selective in the actions it publically condemns... this stuff goes on all the time in Saudi and the U.N don't say boo to a goose, because they need the oil. And yet some small African nation does something siilar and it's "omg sanctions, cease and desist your naughty behaviour" in a heartbeat.

Roll on the next techonological break through that negates our need for oil.

The fact that The Saudi's have a capable military also puts of the U.N who prefer a few chaps with T shirts and 20 year old AK knock off's. To body armour and M1A2 Abraham's main battle tanks.

Its kinda funny because I heard a story not too long ago about some F-16's the US sold to a country in that region. We sent the F-16's with advisors, gave them the books to repair them and trained the tech to fix them etc. A few months later, the country contacts the US saying they want their money back, the jets are broken. We send some tech down there to take a look and guess what they find.


The panels of the F-16s were off all the aircraft because the tech orders did not specifically say to put them back on. That is the way of thinking in that region.

I very much doubt their Eurofighters come with the same missile/radar/electronics as the ones we're using. I'd have thought they wouldn't be getting quite the best we have to offer in that field.

they don't just have euro fighters, and remember a old fashioned heat seaker shot down, the most advanced American stealth fighter by the Serbians.

A euro fighter if it did get past missile range, would be almost identical to ours in dog fighting, it would be down to the pilots, also the over the horizon missiles they have are the same as the ones we have, and just as deadly, dissmising them as just primitives is a massively dangerous thing to do, they can call up to 11 million people to active service, and we also thought the zulu's with spears couldn't match men with guns, Imagine Iraq where the insurgents can shoot down helicopters and fighters with relative ease, and can easily puncture the front reactive armour of a challenger 2, in one hit, it's not a place any sane government would think of touching.

I don't see how it's any of our business.

Sad for the family of the woman but since I would never even consider stepping foot in a country with such laws is it really my place to give a damn?

I have more pressing worries like how to bargain the guy down who is going to reassess my council tax. Now that is a REAL sleep depriving worry. :(
