Haven't shot film in years but Scuzi's recent threads inspired me to take it up again. Not having a clue I opted for the EOS 30 as well, £66 on auction site, mint condition.

Which film to use though. Mainly for family portraits so good skintone is a priority.

Out of interest how many of you still shoot film?

I would recomend the Kodak Portra range, the 160(nc) natural colour is very good, but if you want a bit more saturation/vibrance for modeling style shots then use the 160(vc) vibrant colour. This is a slow film so recommended for outdoor or flash use. Bare in mind that iso still effects film negs but you need to change to a quicker more sensitive type for lower light conditions. You can buy it in 400 and 800.

I still shoot a fair amount of film, but mostly 5x4, 6x7, or ilford black and whites if im using 35mm.

I only put B+W through the film camera now, and I use a varyin range of Ilford films, some c41 process, but mostly I process at home.

go here for a nice intro about different film emulsions (some of which are probably still available :))
