Hello DIYers, i'm a complete noob when it comes to these things but I would like to try and sort it myself. First off what materials/tools does one need to fix the cracks in the render in the following pictures

I'd like to patch up both the red render which seems to have crumbled away and fill in the crack of the creme/yellow bit

And finally, we have a damp patch in the middle of a corner wall, we don't understand where it's come from or how to fix it, any ideas?

Im pretty sure that you may need a structual engineer to check out those cracks, they may be wider than the minimum safety regulations on cracks, they are huge dude.

Im not certain on that but they do look big.

As for the damp, dont you need to bring in pros to get rid of that and give you a 25 year guarantee etc..

you could get a hammer and bolster and chisel them cracks out like a couple of inches, then get a bit of compo with some lime in and fill them back up becareful tho as by the looks of it you could go on forever :)....maybe just mix some compo up and fill the cracks in if your not too good with DIY

the cracks could be only in the render rather than in the brickwork themselves...if theyve not added any lime in when rendering them with the sun the movement will of caused the cracking

as for damp id get someone in too look at that

don't worry we had the survey done when we moved in 7 months ago, they are mostly just cracks to the render.

Picture #3 is the wall beneath the front garden. Oh did I mention these big old georgian buildings don't have any foundations at all? :p

those cracks aren't very big at all and are probably just in the render not the brickwork behind. if you have a small angle grinder you can grind the cracks out a bit then use some external grade filler to fill them up. try and match the texture of the surrounding render, but that might be hard.
you can get external filler that's cement based, rather than plaster based, so it has a rougher texture.
where the chunk has fallen away you could use a little bit of sand and cement mortar, or some more of the filler depending on the cost.
prime the wall with some pva building adhesive first.

can't help with the damp patch cos it needs investigating which i can't do over the internet.
