Ok... it's £4k loan time... new car is on the horizon...

What colour did you get in the end. I paid around £500 more than you 4 months or so ago, and i think the prices on them have dropped a little in that time. Fantastic little cars and will surprise a lot of things on the road. Did you get past 5,000 rpm on the test drive ? There's a bit of a kick around 5,000 rpm that still brings a grin to my face. You should also manage around 34 mpg on mildy spirited driving.

The car I got is basically exactly the same as this one minus the Recaros, I love the Black Gold colour! http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?i...&hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1B3GGGL_enGB261GB261&sa=N

And no unfortunately while I got close, I didn't get over 5k rpm... two lumps in the car with me and a bit of traffic saw to that. Engine was lovely though, very smooth and surprising quiet!

Didn't go above 5k?? You've got something to really look forward to when you get it then!

5k ish is when the cam really comes 'on' (nothing to do with vvt etc) :)

Sounds like the car you bought is pretty much identical to mine. Does it have the 6 CD changer ? Mine has one and its in the boot, but i think they can also be located under the passanger seat. If it appears not to, it would be worth looking under the seat.

Awesome, can't wait. :D

Hmm I think mine isn't a changer... it's a Blaupunkt radio CD player I will check under the seat though as ya never know... ;)

Looks like someone may have changed the headunit at some point. Also worth checking that you have the 2 cans of get home of foam (under passanger seat if CD changer isnt there). Should also be 2 keys for the locking wheel nuts. what mileage has it done, if its done 36K or over, check that the aux belt has been done. As mentioned above it'll cost you £300+ to have it changed.

Well another bit of good news... my dad being the amazing chap he is has out of the blue offered to pay a grand towards the new car (I did protest but he was having none of it, trust me) as it's my first "proper" car and he's happy for me... meaning that i'm effectively getting it for a grand total 0f £6'290 out of my own pocket, makes it even more of a bargain for me! :D

Next saturday... going to take my newly acquired ladyfriend on a road trip to pick it up. It's in Hertford so only an hour or two on the train... then the garage said they'd pick me up fomr the station and take me to the garage! After that it's a nice trip back home... with much grinning. :D

Did kind of the same when I bought my car, train up and the guy picked us up from the station in the car and took us back ot his to do the cash etc.

Yeah it's nice isn't it, to be honest i'm pretty glad I bought fomr the main dealers... much less hassle imo, especially with the 12-month warranty.

Here's a pic I took on my cam phone...

I really, really like those.

What are the running costs on these like? Over the course of a year say? Question aimed at any owners :)

Depending on the milage you do pretty cheap for what you get (assuming nothing breaks :p).

Servicing every 12k or 2 years, with a minor costing about £100 from a specialist and a major about 150-180 again from a specialist. Aux belt every 36k or 2/3 years and Cambelt every 72k or 5 years. Plugs every 72k or 5 years as well, these are about £60 a set as they are hard wearing things. Mpg is in the 30s, where in the 30s is up to you and how you drive it :).

Tyres about 80-90 a corner I think for the Exalto 2 which is very popular on these, of course a lot cheaper if you have a phase 1 with 15 inch wheels instead of the lardy 16s of the later models :p

Called them up and explained the aux belt situaiton and they will do it for me before I get it... that's another thing to tick off of my list, thanks for the tip! And finally... a full tank of oetrol will be provided for my journey back. I have to say... these dealers have been great so far. :)

I did consider it... but for a decent one it's about £8.5k, and the Clio 182 just really appealed to me from a size/performance perspective. I'm happy with my decision. :)
