Radeon HD 4000 series specs

The X2 does compete, but only just, its pathetic imo, 2x GPU's should be hammering a single GPU to death, not getting beat of a single GPU in some games, and just barely beating the single GPU in some games, its a joke that in all honesty, anyone can see that.

You soon changed your tune...

ouch the ati crew is firing back i see.
:)
x2 is dual gpu, and from the reviews iv seen it doesnt compete with nvidia's dual gpu offerings (2x8800gt in sli)

Last i checked the x2 was a single card and gt's sli'd are 2 cards, nice comparrisson.

Secondly, unlike you who seems to be stuck in 2006 ive owned most of the main cards this time around, clearly you havn't had any first hand experience whatsoever but seem to think you're in some soapbox position to draw conclusions from zero experiences.

"ive not owned any but think i know it all lawwwl"

Thats not saying its a bad card performance wise Tom, as it is a good card in that respect, its just pathetic that its barely beating a single GPU, when its 2x GPU's, and you know this seen as you sent your X2 back after about 2 days, as it wasnt much faster than your GTX, and was actually slower in some. :D

Barely my ass, the gts is slower than the ultra and last i checked the x2 was smacking the ultra around by upto 40-50 fps in some games. If you think that kind of framerate difference is barely any better than the gts id advise you to put down the crack pipe.

either way be it nvidia or ati, i have always expressed that any dual gpu config is a load of crap since there is just too much wastage going on. the loss of ram on one board alone is enough to sway me away from the dual gpu config alone, not to mention the inconsistant performance across a large number of games and never a true 2 fold speed increase over a single card.

do remember folks in not putting the X2 down, this applies to all multi card configs. (in my opinion that is)

Id advise you to put down the crack pipe to, it is faster in some as i said, but the Ultra is beating it in some as well, it shouldn't be, the Ultra should be nowhere near it, but it is, thats what is crap, even Tom said his GTX was beating it in some, and the X2 was barely faster in some, so he sent it back, said it wasn't worth the extra £70, and his GTX is at Ultra speeds, and someone else in another thread with a GTX OC2 also sent their X2 back saying it wasn't worth it as its not much faster, so hes sticking with GTX to :)

Thats what is crap? then please feel free to pull a mav and phone amd and tell them how to increase crossfire scaling to 150% in every game. Everyone knows one of the drawbacks is it may not scale as well in every game, most people took that on board when they bought it and fully understand that.

Aye wasn't worth the outlay but did produce some impressive results ;):p

Gerard has a point Mav has had next to no first hand experience with these cards where most of us have had plenty. It's always humerous to see him judge them on pure heresay :D.

I'm waiting for him to ring ATi and advise them about the R800 or have you already done that Mav? :p

if he does decide to phone, make sure they pay him first though in cash. never bring a company out of bankruptcey for free. (unless its your own company) :p

On going from gtx to an x2, for some people its going to be a waste of time. Why? Well for the simple reason that the gtx already pushes some really high framerates that noticing the difference between one or the other is going to be hard, game dependant.

My main game is TF2 and the framerates in that game were already really high with the ultra, framerate wise the x2 is faster but its not that noticable due to them being in the 90's the majority of the time with the ultra, now they hit maybe 120-130 depending on whats going on but it was already so smooth i dont notice much difference.

no need to ring them regarding R800, waste of credit. they had thier chance and they blew it. after the demise of R600 i kept getting calls for help from Ati. had to change my number :(

How about you buy a gtx or x2 then maybe you can flap your lips while being somewhat informed on what you're blabbering about. Wouldn't that be a revelation, mav actually clued into something.
