Me again, with the blatantly obvious (getting tired of posting this, heh. Do bear with me!):
Corvette C4 - Get a good condition one for 4k, endless potential (as Callaway proved, 254.7mph), very rapid as standard, ferocious amounts of road presence, great noise, brilliant handling, capable brakes........Cheap parts, cheap tuning parts, respond well to all kinds of mods.....What more could you want. Dirt cheap to insure, to boot!
Comes with factory central locking and alarm/immobiliser, later ones have remote central locking and some have keyless entry.
Great interior too, like a steath bomber (the pre '89 ones) - a real sense of occasion and more when in one
Get an L98 engined one, a late auto or 6 speed manual, nothing kicks you in the back more than one of those tuned-port injection motors.
No boost, no bottle, just your foot on the throttle....
If you don't buy one, you're a nonce and a pansy
Oh, as an added bonus - gets an awful lot of attention, if you're into that kind of thing - on the motorways, parked up, wherever. First time I took it out I got surrounded in a small carpark (partially due to the noise) and then a very pretty lass gave me her parking stub as it had a few hours left on it

Even outshines a lot of new metal!
Mm, targa panel comes out in the roof for those sunny days, too
