Nvidia 9600GT - pics and specs

If this is priced at 75 quid and is indeed up to the GT on AA in most games so we need more benchmarks then I would consider downgrading and saving abit of cash by doing it as all I play is TDU and UT3, maybe some TF2 and no one can tell me a 9600GT will struggle at those :P. Judging by its AA performance in that review its going to be around same price as GT.

Well if its £100 then I think I proberbly will be able to get £150 somewere for my GT so thats still fine. If its over 100 quid its not worth it to me. Can get it for under £130 at the moment, still too dear

an interesting thought......is this half of the new 9800gtx core...what i mean is one of these with 128 shaders full rops etc.... would be a beast...maybe this is the direction things are going in.

[ all speculation, no facts were used in the making of this post. :)......]

Well I dont think it would be a beast tbh if it had 128shaders full rops, certainly nothing to warrant being called a 9800GTX.

Nope, it would need a bigger bus, there's no doubt about that, the current GTS cards are starved for memory bandwidth, a new GTX would have more shaders, quicker core and first and foremost more RAM on a wider bus.

Not if you upgrade every few years :D DX10.1 is already out - Windows Vista SP1. ATI have already done it?

True, it would be fine to have it but like DX10 it hasn't had one single effective use yet. And dx10.1 really is a small update, mandatory AA etc that should just be in DX11.

Well in that case it's just another refresh... :(

Yeah, the 9 series are just 8800's with a new name, ala AMD and their 2900's being renamed 3800's even though they are the same cards, these 9's are just the same old 2006 8800's. :D

They probably will price it higher than the 256mb 8800 GT as they have changed the 8 to a 9 which makes it a new series now (and a higher series to boot), and everyone knows the next series up is always dearer than the previous (just a pity they are the same cards). :D:D
