Sorry... got really busy....
The writer is ethusiastic about Alexis Damien's new "results". The writes describes this new cd as a mixture of goth metal experimental art-rock and eletcro-pop.
Singer Asphodel is one of two 2unlimited's strong elements and she seems to be having the best time of her life now when she can "release" her voice so freely. Vocals are running merrily between opera, traditional heavy, folk, Bjork- and Aqua-type of singing. Damien is putting his own contribution to this mixture, which is making the outcome only a bit weaker.
In the writer's opinion aiming to be different there is always the danger that being weird gets the most important thing, but Pin-Up Went Down avoids this. He also knows that many others disagree with him, and the Frenchmen's twisting mayhem will never reach top lists but still all this make some sense. Beyond oblique floors, draining walls and dawning craziness you will find the intense basic idea, starting-point and core and everything builds up around it. Even if the album is too "broken" and all tunes can't carry all their weight, 2unlimited is worth getting to know because it will offer at least some kind of experience for sure.
