OcUK Trackday Date - Feb 10 or 17?

Looks like a good day. I bet the cooler weather helped with squeezing out extra BHPs :D

Very lucky with the spin!

Looks like you had a great day and the weather stayed nice too. I hope the Seat is not terminal and no major damage was done. I am afraid a combination of beer and the need to prepare for a busy week meant it was a no go for me. Glad everyone had fun and that bloody CSL still sounds good.

Nice to meet everyone as always, cheers to all who took me round, Neils Teg is outrageous round the corners, few offroad moments but we all walked away in one piece :)

Seat isn't in good shape, not sure on the problem yet but it was trying harder to crank over after you all left, might bob round tonight as see whats going on, tis on its way back home right now :(

Big thumbs up to Andy for the 3 sessions in the CSL, totally love that car it just does everything so well, smooth driving technique but my god 140 - 60 shed its speed in no time, was fantastic seeing how it stacked up against going round the ring in one, didn't disappoint one bit!

Cheers all, looking forward to the pictures :)

Got home a little while ago, bloody knackered but well worth it, fantastic day out! The clio is still in one piece apart from some slightly warped brake discs oh well phone call to Renault tomorrow to add to the list, used about 14 gallons of fuel on the track over 155 miles, about 11.6mpg...not too bad :p

Just sorting through some pics which I will put up shortly.

p.s. Sorry for not being able to give you a passenger ride firestar, I thought the day ended at 5 so had one less session than I thought!

What an awesome day:D

Hope the prob with the LCR isn't too serious:( oh and Gibbo's CSL just sounded so so good.

edit- just watched vid, loads of footage of me thanks Leon! bring a helmet next time and i'll take you round.

Hi m8

Yep Neil was very strong on the brakes and was certainly driving on the limit. I was very weak under braking as in braking to early and not braking hard enough when I did hence most of the field caught back up with me, but once I had open road in front of me my smoothness was key and allowed me to be quickest out there and it was great during those moments. I could have pushed harder but was happy with keeping it safe and not on the limit, maybe with time and experience I can push more towards the cars limits. :)

The braking in mine from 140-60 was good but I was not filled with confidence at all as you could tell from me braking early and all the judder we were experiencing was just trying to make the most of what we had.

That Ferrari's brakes were awsome, he was able to stop so much more harsher and with no judder or fade whatsoever, but saying that I was a whole lot faster than him due to smoothness and better lines.

Does make me wonder how the CSL would fair with 6 pot AP's all round on blank disc so no judder. Then add a set of CUP tyres and well we'd be laughing I think. :D

Was a pleasure to take you out though m8 and along with all the other guys who jumped in too, was a superb day and was just glad I kept my calm and it under control. I only had two slides, one small and one quite big one but managed to keep it point in right direction and just get on with things.

Scariest moment for me was the Impreza spinning in front of me which was fine, I slowed and steered round him, but the plank in the MG Rover thing did not back off and nearly ran in my rear 1/4 it was only because I seen him in my mirrors that I floored it to accelerate out of his way, but he drove the whole track too aggressively and was too on the limit. Some people try and race and end up coming off or nearly crashing and he was one of those, a danger to be round.

The teg was squealing from corner entry to corner exit, big respect to Neil he really did chuck it in hard, just kept gripping tyres seem to suffer, we got in some interesting slides at one point, but all good fun :)

Curious to see whats up with the brake judder, like you say it could be warped disks or something to do with those drilled holes and cracked edges, did get worse as the day went on, i could feel it shaking my seat come end of day, thats wasn't happening in the morning, pads seemed to stand up very well, would hate to drive the car with the OEM ones!

Was also interesting to see on the exit of Goddards just how much difference coming on full power a split second later made, when the car bogged down on corner exit it really made a difference.

Either way i think several things have been concluded, you need the AP 6 pots since those do pull your face off and it might be worth looking into a second set of rims with some Cups, as you know it totally changes the track manner of the car, oh and now i want a CSL more than ever :(

Had a real blast Andy loved every min in your car and El's / Neils, will catch you later in the week for a beer or two.

Edit: That impreza really did come close to taking yourself and that tool in the MG out, managed to watch the action unfold from Neils car and it was so close you have no idea, doubt he had track insurance either!

Just realised you didn't get a ride with me Mark! Don't worry though, you weren't missing much, I was very average:p Next time though? I was improving every lap:)

Deffo will do next time Tim :)

By the end of the second session your cornering speed seemed to increase two-fold and you got up the bum and overtook loads of cars, I was very impressed how much grip it had, sounded great as well :)

Don't think I had much tyre squeal really so maybe they had a bit more in them.

Like I say my exit from Goddards was because its a 2nd gear corner and sometimes the upshift would cause slight wheelspin and because we were in track mode the DSC robbed a bit of power. Track mode is pretty good as DSC will hardly kick in and when it does it don't just cut all power but sometimes it was cutting in like then when there was absolutely no need to do so.

Overall I could have probably drove without it just as well and if not quicker as then there would be no bogging down but I wanted to play it safe and take no chances. Kind of daft as I normally drive with it off on the road when the weather is good, but saying that on road I aint braking from 140-60mph constantly.

The time when we had our quite big slide from getting out of shape under braking and messing up the cars balance the DSC system never kicked in but we were OK.

Track mode is good though because it lets you get on with it and intervenes very little as long as your smooth but its a nice safety feature to have should I mess up real bad, but still it won't let you defy the laws of physics.

I was tempted to go all off on the last session to get the quicker gear change too and more power out of Goddards but decided to stay safe just as it was getting end of day and well best not to end the day going off road, but saying that think I'd have been OK just because of my driving style. :)

Excellent day, good to meet some old and new faces. Trek round the track didn't quite turn out how I planned but hey ho :D
