my old trusty d500 is dead :(

Right now i'm 6 months in my new contract (o2, normally i sell the phone). I saw phones4u deal where i get a clearence viewty with 8 months paid for, so i only pay £160.00; well £110 if you include quidco.

or

Should i buy the iphone, jailbreak it and finish my contract?

Obviously the second idea costs more, but only around £100.00 more. Also got a question (read the faq never saw the answer), if i did do this and the o2 tarrifs for the iphone became more reasonable in future (i.e 12 months not 18) would it be possible for me to reflash the original firmware and use the o2 tarrifs or not.

thxs

personally i don't like those 2 phones but if you had to choose go for the LG else you could go for is somin like the new O2 Xda Orbit 2 which is ok.

i have the viewty but have used my mates itouch and really love the interface, the touch is so much nicer in regards to the screen, the sensitivity.

im considering selling my Viewty and getting a iphone

Loving the Viewrty at the moment, didnt think the touch screen would be as good as it has turned out to be, overall the whole thing has turned out to be better than I hoped lol.

I used the Viewty for a while before getting an iPhone

Hated it, such a naff phone, personal opinion of course

The interface is horrid, the stylus looks like it came straight out of a handbag, just seemed a bit clunky

Camera was superb though I'll give it that

I have just this weekend gone from a Viewty to an unlocked/jailbroken iPhone (straight out of CPW :D) on a Flext 35 tariff.

So far loving the iPhone, it truely beats the crap out of the viewty's touchscreen and interface. Plus it's a full iPod Touch and has WiFi capability. On the flipside, the Viewty shats all over the iPhone in terms of camera and the video function on the viewty was quite frankly, amazing for a phone.

Horses for courses, but I'm glad I made the change to an iPhone. :)

Iphone all the way, the touch screen on the viewty is simply crap. My girlfriend has a viewty (well its in for repair at the moment as the camera died) & i have an iphone :)

If you want a decent camera get the viewty, thats its only + point for me.

you need to go into a shop and try both phones, you cant compare the two. you will either love or hate the iphone and that will make your decision for you.

how to do find the safari browser using just the t-mobile gprs data speeds? would seriously consider a jailbroken i phone if the speed of the internet was up to par. whats your opinion on it? cheers

Hi mate,
Dont get the iphone total rip off the camara is only 2meg..........no bluetooth and you have to send your phone away if you need to change the battery.
also you know that apple have a better version round the corner.

I've never had to replace a battery in any phone I've owned. Also do you not think lg have a replacement for the viewty lined up? At least an iPhone will hold its value to sell on, especially unlocked.

I can have any phone I want and I've stuck with the iPhone. Most people who slate the iPhone are stuck with a handset.

Posting this message via it on the train actually, I'd never have bothered with any of my other phones.

Well to be honest, it's bearable, but it depends what you want from it. Intensive web surfing seems best suited to Wi-Fi access but for what I check regularly, Y! Mail, Facebook and OcUK, GPRS seems fine.

269 from CPW, flog my Viewty on eBay (hope to get about 200ish with 2Gb card) and ZiPhone Unlocked and Jailbroke it in about 3/4 minutes. Well worth it imo for such a fine gadget :p
