I'm doing well, it's been ten days and I'm still off em altogether. Wasn't so bad after the first 2 or 3 days, but then yesterday and today (a week later) I've had some awful withdrawal symtoms.

Felt dizzy, headaches, and my skin crawling.

Help :(

Unusual symptoms. Usually the other way round.

Every time you think you want one or someone offers you one, just say 'why would I want one of those? I don't smoke'

As of 10 days ago you don't smoke. You've already broken the reliance on them.

the only advice i can give is to put smoking out your mind for good, dont even think about it and you wont miss it

i stopped a few years back and i found it quite a lot easier than i thought, my mum stopped 6 weeks ago and has found it very easy too

I know, I've done this before (went back on the damn things after a year). It's pretty weird, I should be well over the worst of it - the mad cravings are gone, but I feel very distracted.

Can't concentrate on anything atm. Been out jogging twice today already :D

Want to end up with lungs like this?

Don't smoke. :)

I gave up at new year and the first couple of weeks are by far the worst. Im that used to it now I can go to the pub and not smoke and that was the bit I was really worried about, drinking and smoking go together so well. You still think about it sometimes but that passes really quickly and it isnt even that tempting when i think about it.

The most powerful brain function is association, it affects your impulses and desires.

You've always associated smoking, the actual action of drawing smoke into your mouth, as a pleasurable experience, thus, you will find it hard to stop.

Before going cold turkey, smoke as many cigs as you can manage, taking a drag every 3-5 seconds, it's not nice, you get the proper ash tray taste, and a burning in your chest from constant hot smoke and lack of fresh air.

For best results, do this a few times before you go cold turkey. Once you've gone cold turkey, any time you get a craving, just remember what the last one was like, the disgusting taste and burning chest: why would you want one of them?

Obviously you can't do that now, but if you ever defect back to them, then try it.

FYI, I have never smoked, but I saw that method on TV, and it's quite logical, and worked wonders on the subjects.

Heres some encouragement.

Firstly, my fingers.. (not quite as effective in a picture)

Not to mention my teeth are slowly going yellow, so is my celling etc.

Its not pretty and it bloody stinks.

Keep at it bud, good luck.

Apparantly nicotine stays in your system for three weeks, so just hold on for a little bit longer. You're already over the most difficult hurdle.

Take a trip to a Cancer ward & have a look at the Lung Cancer patients.

That said, it did not work for me, although it did shock me to the core - I had the misfortune of seeing Cancer treatment first hand with my Girlfriends recent Breast Cancer.

To my shame, I still smoke. I think I'm a lost cause (and , probably, life)

Good luck quitting, I've given up giving up. :(

The problem is: once you've tried it, you will always know how good it feels to smoke. Even one drag would feel great if you haven't smoked in years.

The only thing stopping non-smokers from having a cigarette is the fact that they dont know what they are missing. They have never experienced a nicotine rush and therefore will never crave a cigarette.

I believe that even after 10 years, you will still want one.

Out of the number of times I've tried to quit, what annoyed me the most was seeing characters in movies light up a cigarette and make a big thing about it. It just made me go "oohh yeah god I want one of those now...", and also getting whiffs of smoke when walking around in town

I don't intend on sounding discouraging, but I believe this is what the situation is for most people who'd like to quit but don't want to.

I think hypnotherapy would be a good idea, I'm not sure how it works or how mind-penetrating it is, but from what I've heard it works well.

Alternatively I think there are those fake-cigarette thinggies out there (I forget the name), which still dispense nicotine and give you the sensation of inhaling smoke but without the actual dying from tobacco smoke effects :p

Good luck anyhow :)

Just work out how much money you'll save over a year!

Keep at it though - if jogging works then keep doing that, good for you anyway.

Think about this, I sit with a group of people at work on break, usually 6-7, one of them smokes, he goes for a fag first and then comes in and gets his food and sits with us. We discuss everyday who is going to have to sit near him and endure the smell, its really puts you off your food.

Glad no one thinks I smell behind my back and wishes I wouldnt sit with them an break.

Dont smoke, dont smell like an ash tray! :)

Keep it up m8, i quit at the start of the year and still struglling but the thought of inhaling that crap genuinely makes me feel sick now. Still get really bad days but its getting better.

Also remember when thinking about just having a drag or just one fag.... say NOPE

Not
One
Puff
Ever

Good luck
