..sorry this is more of a curiostiy, but seeing a lot of poeple talking about how the 360 replacement is due 2010-11.

Is this anyway accurate or at best is this a "web-guesstimation"?

How likly is it?

They only thing that makes sence is MS trying to have a different pace to Sony so they arnt releasing new stuff at the same time.

No-one has any real idea outside of MS-HQ to be honest. Even then they will only have some initial designs most likely. A probable design specification, most likely now including a BR player :D

i think they're going to move away from the xbox "360/720/1080" numbers etc. for me it'd feel to cheesy to make the next one called 720 or 1080 lol.

oh, I don't know.
Assuming it's powerful enough, which I should imagine it would be by then, 1080 could be a great number to have on a console.

So long as its games all run at that res ;)

V1N.

Lord knows what they'll call it but I bet it will have a BD-ROM drive and some fangled controller like the Wiiremote. Maybe Xbox 3D as they'll find a way to make the games come out of the TV. Like that Wii demo - have you seen it - where the guy moves his view by using the Wii sensors the opposite way round.

The Xbox3 will not use a wiimote control, I'm fairly certain of that. You don't have to look very far to find a lot of serious gamers giving opinions on controls, the majority of whom prefer a control pad to a motion device. If they can improve on the wiimote and give something that doesn't feel like such a gimmick to the more serious gamers out there then I wouldn't mind, but I think another controller is the way to go.

A lot of gamers have hammered Sony for the Six-Axis and Nintendo for the Wiimote, Microsoft aren't truly ignorant of rival machines (just to their own reliability :p).

The number 4 is unlucky in Asian countries. It would never sell right off the mark! I doubt even the PS4 will be called that. They'll have to go with a name or something. Who knows. Maybe the Asian's aren't as superstitious as I'm thinking.

I remember reading somewhere that MS called it the 360 because they thought that Xbox2 could be perceived as being older than PS3 - not sure how true this is and I can't remember where I read it before any source nazi's ask.

They might even think about building on the 360 brand rather than the Xbox. I think most people know it as the 360 now anyway - just a thought.
