Hi all,

end of the year i will be starting my project VR6.

currently got my Mk2 driver which i will be using as the shell, so i need

GTI Rear Beam and brakes
VR6 engine + Gearbox etc
VR6 loom

what else will be required. just at the early stages at the moment

mainly aimed a LJ1 sure he will know about it all ;)

there are a few on ebay that are breaking VR6 and G60's not sure how much i am looking to have to spend on the block etc. but i'd be looking at getting it all built from september onwards. putting money in each month

Surely a heavy VR6 in the front of a comparatively light Mk2 Golf is a bit... of a daft idea?

Got to say I agree, surely a 1.8t is a better route?

look on the GTI websites, there are a few step by step guides to this conversion. Unless you love your car or fancy a challenge, its probably more sense to buy one that has been converted already

i was under the impression that a 1.8T engine was going to be more difficult to fit. you on about the mark 4 engine?

I have no clue about VAG engines, but from what I can gather the 1.8T seems to be the engine of choice at the moment. I have no clue whether it is the MK4 engine.

I was just assuming that it would be an easier conversion, and a lighter engine than the VR6 lump.

Have you seen how fast one of these is? A local lad had one years ago which he eventually supercharged. That thing was silly quick and the noise it made

thats what made me think about it.

i think a vr6 supercharged would blow a lot off the road. i just want something different, i mean i know its been done a lot, but not around here.

Go for it. I have much love for the VR6 lump.

The torque! The noise! Oh, dear God! The Noise!

If you want a challenge, put it in the back ;)

Agreed, I think the Vr6 supercharged was the best engine note I have ever heard. Was a cross between a motorbike and a V8.
