As above really

I have a new Samsung screen and SD picture is poor although a friend of mine has just had a Virgin V box put in and is using it over HDMI and he said the picture is lots better?

I'm thinking of moving over as Sky HD is not cheap?

i was very surprised at the quality of my v+ box compared to the normal virgin boxes, its a huge improvement. however ive no idea if its any better than skyHD.

Settings for your TV for that input?

Sorry are you asking me what they are?

EDIT: If you are I can't answer that at the moment as I'm at work, although I have tried a whole host of settings from AV forum and the picture is either too colorful, too dark or too light

First off disable movie plus, dni-e, dynamic contrast, black adjust, active colour. Change to movie. Then set colour temp to most natural colour tone. If it's too colourful reduce colour. Too dark- increase brightness, too light reduce brightness. Adjust contrast/backlight according to room conditions. You might need to go back to brightness after changing backlight.

OK I'll have another look tonight, thanks

Although with the amount of options on V+ recording and HD channels for free I'm very tempted to move any way?

no, but i do have v+ and while bbc HD is amazing (hehe) there isnt exactly a lot of other Hd material on offer. the epg is a joke as well. im not trying to put you off, im inpartial but v+ isnt perfect. not by a long shot.

I've just gone V+ with the XL TV package + Sky Sports, phone M and BB L at £69pm.

I've read a lot about how people are impressed with the upscaling of the V+ box. Ill let you know next Monday (My install date) about my thoughts on the picture quality if you want?

That would be very helpful, can I ask what Size/make/model tv you have?

oh, before i forgot, i have a 40" sony 40w2000. you should find that the picture is very good, and very good indeed on most of the hd stuff. however if you set the box to 1080p, you'll probably also find that the on screen display looks awful. it doesnt see to scale the osd very well at all

The first comment my wife made after I spend 6 hours drilling holes and hanging the TV to the wall bracket was "Picture is a bit crap isn't it..??"

To be honest I have lost where I am with settings as I have tried soooo many

My new Samsung 1080p7 upscaler arrived today so I'm going to have a look at that tonight so what the picture looks like!!

I need to go back to default and try badbob's settings and work from there, my best mate has a 42" plasma and it was his comments about the V+ picture being very good that got me thinking...

What's Sky retentions department like? Do they fight to keep you or simply open the door..??
