Now, I first heard this on Serious Sam 1, the demo, where you had the normal selling bit after u quit, and Serious Sam said this phrase, in quite an awesome way, and I thought nothing more of it 
Then I heard it in a pub, from a guy a year older than me, I said, "Serious Sam?" so not to give away my geek like memory of a random game demo from 5-6 years ago
He didn't reply, just had a sorta puzzled look on his face.
I just made a half-hearted attempt to find out for myself, and all I got was it came from roman times where the only rule in wrestling was no eye gouging. This seems to be a good base to start from, but did the romans actually construct the phrase "It's all fun and games, till somebody loses an eye", or did a more recent man, possibly a comedian, make it with reference to the romans?
