Bristol Sound and Vision Show...

Thinking about wandering down there? Never been before, is it actually worth it? I can just imagine it being a really pants version of CES.

I went to all the shows from 2002 to 2006 (couldn't go last year & can't go this year due to other commitments)
basically most of it is high end hi-fi stuff playing 'easy listening' music I've never heard of(with makes I've never heard of sometimes) the recognised hi-fi/AV makes are there too (Arcam, Denon, Pioneer Kef etc) but most of those have demos every half hour & queues
A lot of exhibitors are in the average sized hotel room with no bed & if they are busy It can get rather hot & claustrophobic!
you can buy almost everything on show there, I bought my AV amp there 4 years ago & got a price match too! some show deals on offer too (mostly discontinued)

To sum up, its like a very busy & very large hi-fi shop which you have to pay to go in!

I'll be going, its been fantastic both times iv been the past 2 years. You really have to get involved to get the most out of it though. Linn normally do a superb demo.

Well I was planning on going with Willd58 but had my Friday's muddled up so am now going to go on the weekend if anybody fancies a coffee and chat.

Ill probably end up going twice if your deffo going, be good to catch up again.

Im going Sunday with a HiFi nut friend of mine. He said you can sometimes get a "bargain" on a Sunday. Im going just to see the top end stuff and hopefully will be impressed. Really would like to know if you can tell the difference between equipment.

Thats sort of the reason I'm going!... My Mate from up t'north is a massive 'High End' hifi nut.. I'm just going as (as you said) I 'Really would like to know if you can tell the difference between equipment' too :)

What did people think? I dont know much about hifi or cinema. Some cool stuff there but all really expensive. I was impressed by the Sim2 demo, 5k for a lens and 2k for the runner system for it!

I was very impressed!... although I was a bit disapointed with Onkyo's demo room!.. Sounded very muddy and was supposedly demoing DD-HD.. the Pioneer demo across the hall was FAR superior!... Loved all the Music Demo rooms.. nearly came away with a fatman ipod valve thinngy!!!... but the wife would have murdered me!!!, just got to sort through all the brochures now to weed out the bad stuff!!!..

Check out the What Hifi webby... http://whathifi.com/ rather frightening piccie of me about half way down with my mate Viv talking to a Blond dolly about subscribing (which I didn't do!!).. I'm the Fat bloke in the '300' t-shirt  (:D)
