anyone know an easy way of keeping cats off my car. am getting quite fed up of moody paw prints all up my bonnet and windscreen, alnog with tiny scratches. its parked up on my driveway, and i dont have any cats but one of my neighbours does..quite a lot of them. i thought it was just because my car was warm when i park up at night, but i didnt use it last night and theres even more prints on it now.

so short of installing a dog, any ideas?

Unfortunately, they attracted to the heat of the metal in the sun and also the vantage point.

If I was you and only if it was a REALLY big problem for you. I would get a bit of metal or a bench and put it in the locality of the car and surround it with a plant called Nepeta (Catnip) it pleasantly stimulates cats' pheromonic receptors. as such they love it.. After a while though the smell makes them feel sick (Not actually sick) and so are put off the area altogether. Its like psychological learning, they will link a location to a smell and not go back.

thanks guys. i wouldn't say its a massive problem to the extent of doing work on the garden, but a gadget i can put in the garden sounds good to me.

Wash the drive with jays Fluid, they dont link the smell apparently.
I have just put this all over the garden

my neighbours used it and it worked very well, although i only paid a £1 per bottle, from a local House/Home bargains place.

the drive is flags interspaced on grass, i think fluid would kill it. oo, cheap solutions are good though. I'll have a wonder into town later and see if i can get some for the same price.

Give one of the gadgets a go for £15ish mate, they really do work. If you find you have a deaf cat in the neighbourhood then at least you only have to kill the one rather than all of them? ;)

Since buying the Jeep, our cat has taken to sitting on the bonnet. Likes the heat and being flat he doesn't feel as though he's sliding off.

Personally it doesn't bother me and he's a right bully boy so unlikely to be any other cat. :)

I remember hearing about a old wives tale that orange peel works. I remember my old man throwing it all over the place in our garden when i was a nipper. Something to do with them not liking the smell.

Why don't you try a car cover? Not only will it mean you won't have to spray harmful chemicals over your garden, it will keep your car free from water spots, bird droppings and other paint-damaging nasties.

I'm sure we won't have to wait long before the OC 'cat killing' brigade come along.

Those "Get Off" crystals do work but don't last very long at all :(

I've got a shared drive and I can get the cats to stop messing on my drive for a while by clearing it of crap (literally), raking it and putting those crystals down. As soon as I see that a cat has dumped on it which can be anywhere between 2 weeks and a few months, I repeat the process. Problem is the neighbour who owns the other half of the drive doesn't care and his is covered in it. If he was to do the same as me I'm sure we could get shot of them for good.

Anyway I'm tempted to get one of those gizmo's and attaching it to the front of the garage. The local cats must love my wax because as soon as I've waxed my car I come out to find paw prints

The problem with car covers is your car and cover have to be totally clean or the wind moving it slightly will scratch the paint, this has happened to me :(

A little bit of anti-freeze in a saucer of milk.

Something that works for the garden is a clear pop bottle full of water..they see their weird reflection and pap themselves, might look weird around the drive though especially if your next door neighbour owns said cat ( we have this problem )
