HI there

30 minute sessions and was lapping a good many people and sometimes more than once if not several times.

The CSL had a power advantage over most cars, I had relatively good corner speed and was only weak under braking and when it came to overtaking others due to not taking any risk at all.

On the first session, I was second car out. As soon as the pace car went in I got past the car in front very quickly and had open laps too myself which meant I was able to lap quickly as I can drive to my own smooth style and take my own lines and within about 4 laps I had caught up the back markers and starting working my way through the field. :)
 
Let's be honest, they werent driving very fast ;) I doubt it's a comparison that's made with car vs car. You made out as if both cars were being driven at max. Have they moved away from the 3 classes at donington now then?

Paradigm, check your water pump, these have a habit of failing.

This may of caused localised overheating in the cylinder block. The pumps have plastic impeller which are just bonded to a knurled shaft, these impellers tend to shatter. There are several failure modes though, my mates just had a new one fitted as the bearing was noisy. It would squeek occasionally at idle, it cost about £400 to have replaced at the Seat dealer.

Also the high boost versions of the 1.8T have a tendency to overheat and crack the head/block.
 
Do they do any timing of your laps at all? I guess not as its a novice day and its not a competitive run out, but would be interesting comparisons between some of the cars.

No timing is allowed officially, they track organisers won't time it as it encourages racing. Something track days are not about.

Sorry to hear about the Leon. I had my Audi TT engine go on me a while back and it was a terrible experience.

Welcome to the newbie! I do have a few snaps of you on the track if you wish I will hunt some down and upload them, I think I uploaded one up here a few pages back through this thread! Great to see ocuk motors follwing getting more support too :) A great community to be a part of as Im sure you will find out :)

2 days since the last update from you el, Im assuming any new be it good or bad would have been posted straight away, so still nothing to report?
