The Return of The Champions League - *SPOILERS* - 19/20 Feb

Pretty pleased with the performance, we dominated that second half but for all our dominance there wasn't enough cutting edge. We moved the ball quickly and and Milan were definitely troubled by our passing and movement. Had a really strong spell in the 2nd half where you just felt a goal was coming but those Italians are experts at clinging on. Thought our defence was brilliant, especially Senderos who had a stormer, thought Eboue put in a very good performance as well and in the 2nd half Fabregas was running the show. Possibly missed Rosicky and RvP here, needed a bit more cutting edge. A good response after what happened on Saturday.

Adebayor missed a glorious chance at the end there, hope we don't regret that but I'm not gonna knock him after the run he has been on this season. Still can't believe he missed though!

I'm confident about the away leg, Milan will be much strong offensively but I think with a few more players back we can do the business there. IF not win I can see us getting a score draw. Milan though have this habit of putting in huge performances in their home games so they will be favourites but I'm sure if we apply ourselves we can give them a game. They will be feeling happy they came away 0-0.

Funny how Arsenal hold Milan and United JUST hold Lyon.

After the FA Cup game.

How fickle football is.

Zomg United fans making excuse over a laser pen.

your love for united is almost palpable...

oh and Nokkon i'll happily concede that bringing on players for giggs and scholes it chaned the way we played today, along with the change in formation of course but i still think you are being far too hasty judging them. if there is any caution i could give you on your judging players then can i just remind you about your previous opinions on Evra and Nani (though Nani is still a work in progress). :p

I saw nothing for us to be scared of over in the San Siro, I think we're more than capable of scoring at least one vital away goal and holding them for the win.

We were better than Lyon IMO, there was no just about it. You should grow up and stop being so anti-Man Utd. It's actually annoying and pathetic.
Also, Lyon are 6 time champions and league leaders. AC Milan are struggling and playing poorly. Big difference.

Players need to prove it before I admit it, in the case of Evra he did. Giggs and Scholes have proved recently that they are limiting the team, it's no coincidence that everytime they're back in something doesn't click, the rest of the team are very quick, but Scholes and Giggs just aren't, and they look very lazy. On many occassions today Giggs just stood and watched as a ball was 10 yards away with a Lyon player not in site and did nothing, there was one occassion where after a Lyon player made the pass (after reaching the ball) Giggs looked at Anderson for not running at him, Anderson was behind Giggs and the ball was infront of him. I couldn't help but think how lazy that was, particularly of a Captain.

It's a shame as I loved Giggs and Scholes is my favourite Premiership midfielder ever, but times change.

Scholes is possibly just over the hill, Giggs has been past his best for a few years now. As the out and out winger Giggs used to be he was maybe the best in the world at that role. It's been 3 or 4 years at least since he was that player, so now it's just down to whether he brings enough to the team in other ways. I don't think he does, certainly not enough to be considered a Utd regular. You really don't see anything from Giggs now where you think 'no other player could have done that'.

i mean the attack of arsenal was hilarious , except adebayor. Eduardo , wtf he did NOTHING tonight. same goes for Bendtner ...their shoots were some miles off.

I can't say I saw anything from Lyon that made me worried about the second leg. I think we would have rolled them over at Old Trafford with or without the away goal.

And I can't see what this Benzema bloke has over most other strikers. Either he had an off night or he was shackled really well, as apart from the goal he didn't do much at all really. If that's what SAF is thinking of spending money on we may as well just keep Saha.

And I agree about Scholes and Giggs - although I do think Scholes has more to give, and is just struggling to regain some form. I did think Hargraves had an okay game though, although Anderson was unusually quiet. Best players for me - Rooney, Tevez, Nani. We looked a different side after the substitutions.

?? Arsenal created a myriad of chances, you do know they were playing AC Milan right? Who put 8+ men behind the ball everytime Arsenal got a touch
