About £500. Does include a car loan so about £300 without it and I live like a King. Well mostly...

It does get expensive. Here is mine:

Outgoings Per Month
HOME

Mortgage 636 (currently interest only)
Council Tax 112
Electricity 45
Gas 30
Water 25
Phone Calls 5 (VOIP Provider. No line rental)
BroadBand 18 (Virgin Cable)
TV Licence 11.5

PERSONAL
Diesel 75
Food 100
Mobile - PAYG 10
Life Insurance 13.5
Contact Lenses 15

Loans etc not included :)

Also take the following into considerations on a per year basis:

Meals out
Takeaways
Dentist
Opticians
Birthdays
Christmas
Car Insurance
Road Tax
MOT
Car Servicing

interesting thread. i've been looking at houses too and how much a mortgage/rent would be on a small place etc.
i earn just under a grand in my hand each month. anyone else on this kind of money with their own place. do you have much to play with at the end of the month after bills?

i would be buying on my own. i have a bit of a deposit which helps.
i have been thinking of co-ownership, in fact it's probably the only way i could afford without renting a room out.

Rent: £1200
Electricity: £50
Gas: £30
Water: £20
Council tax: £110
Food: £160 + beer (eating extremely well - could live on 25% of that)

Those are the essentials. The rest are optional.

what place is that on? flat? house?

2 bed house, about 5 miles out of Southampton. Had a meaty deposit hence the low mortgage.

The rest you just gotta shop around to find the best deals, turn stuff off when your not using it ect ect

I guess most people would probably spend more on food than we do
